I stayed here for 8 nights . It's a very clean hotel , breakfast was a bit basic but ok and it helps if you speak french or arabic. There is building work going on next door to the hotel which was noisy if you were in your room , on that side of the hotel , during the day.
The hotel also has a spa , I went for a massage which was nice . There is also a cafe next door Planet Foods which serves really nice pizzas .
The hotel is about a 40min walk to the main square and 5 min walk to the trendy shopping / eating area of Gueliz .
The hotel also offers a range of excursions to the Atlas mountains, Essouira etc which are slightly cheaper than those offered by the tour operators .

Came back from Marrakech yesterday. Adequate hotel but definitely not 4* as advertised. Foyer looks great on pictures but rather tired in reality as are the rooms and restaurants. Reception staff Ok but not exceptional - on Friday would not even change 100 dirhams into 20d notes (which we needed for the taxi) Told us we could not change money till Monday!!!!!Breakfast was plentiful but never changed. Don't be shy to ask for something if it is finished - trays are not replenished frequently - staff are very helpful although it might take a while to arrive. The walk to the Medina is long and very polluted (traffic is so heavy you can see the haze) You should take a taxi as there is a lot of walking in the medina - should not cost more than 20d. Rooms are a good size as are the bathrooms but as one guest said the towels are very hard , but clean and changed every day. Be prepared to pay for use of facilities except outdoor pool (which was far too cold to use at this time of year and overlooked by a massive building site) and gym. In one website tea and coffe facilities are advertised as being in the room - definitely not! Lots of coffee bars etc in the area(one right by the hotel) and some good restaurants about 10 minutes walk away.

Reception staff very helpful...If they spoke english, generally the hotel was clean and wel kept, although certain areas were in need of a refurb, 2 main gripes, the stair rods in the main stair case were dangerously loose and the breakfasts were very poor.....if you were lucky to find any orange juice, then you were likely to find no glasses.....coffee, hot milk and tea were supplied..but often no cups to drink from, hot breakfast consisted of boiled or scrambled eggs..if you were lucky. fruit was avalable....sometimes, but then there were probably no dishes or bowls !!!!
Hotel room was good size and clean, although towels were perhaps a tad hard.
Be warned...those people above who have moaned about the 10 min walk from town actually being a 40 or 50 min walk...were not lying !!!!
Wonderful

It was really fantastic, We had very good time.
The staff were really helpful, especially "Layla" the reception girl.
The rooms were very clean and tidy, and the facilities were briliant.
The food was fantastic, the breakfast was excellent and the dinner was very nice. The price was reasonable compairing to the places around.
The SPA was very good and the staff especially "Ghizlan" was very helpful and professional.
One of the very good things about this hotel is the distance from the old city, it is about 30 minutes walking distance ( nearly 2.5 miles), and the hotle is surrounded by many shops, cafes and restaurants.
We had fabulous time, and we definitely going to go back there and we recommand it highly.

Returned from Marrakech 18 July 2007:
The Hotel Ryad Mogador Opera is a recentlybuilt hotel, situated in the new-town area of Marrakech - (and there are A LOT of new hotels being built.) It is a dry hotel, as are most of the restaurants and cafes which are in the close vicinity of a mosque. It is situated on one of the many extremely busy arterial roads and is very close to the train station (which is also, incidentally, being re-built.)
The staff are friendly and polite and are keen to help you. However, you will really benefit from having some french language, since although the staff are very willing to help their limited English means that they clearly do not always understand. In particular I found that when needing to make travel arrangements it had to be done in French.
Rooms are perfectly adequate - although the air conditioning was so noisy it was impossible to sleep with it on. The bathrooms are, on first impressions, nicely appointed and of a good size. On closer inspection though it was disappointing to note that parts of the bathroom clearly had not been cleaned for a very long time, and from the vantage point of the bath, it was clear that the plumbing system to the washbasin was in need of some serious attention and soon!
If is peace and quiet you are after, this may not be the best choice at the moment since it is next to a building site!!!!!! Wish I'd known this since they start work on the site really early in the morning. See photo! Competing with the building noise was the blaring native music which came from the swimming pool (directly under my room window.) See the other photo!
Breakfast is a little basic and choices are limited. It's a buffet style, with eggs as a hot option and lots of pastries. Do try the Morrocan pancakes however - they're tasty. There is some fruit available too.
Guidance notes suggested that this hotel is in easy walking distance from the main old town square; well it is, but it will take longer than the advertised ten minutes. In the heat of the day it is essential to take water with you. Temperatures were around 36 - 38 degrees when I was there. Taxis are readily available, and widely used by both tourists and natives - and they are relatively cheap.
Would I stay there again? Probably not, but that is no fault of the hotel staff. Location isn't great and the noise was just too much to deal with on holiday. (And, if I'm honest, a beer by the pool would really have been great!)
