We loved this hotel and got a great rate on Expedia! We had a canal view room, with good AC (necessary!), and not too small. Staff was outstanding, breakfast was really good (even hot food!), but we loved the peaceful location. There are plenty of great little restaraunts around, quaint Venice streets to wander, and easy access to Vaporetto stops to get to the busier parts of Venice. Then back to peace to sleep!

Very spacious and clean rooms with AC and internet for laptop. But be careful, you purchase blocks of internet time and the time starts at log in and runs despite usage. However, it is worded as if it is usage. So if you buy 4 hrs, the clock starts now and ends in 4 hours, not after 4 hours of internet time. The hotel is a hidden gem. Great bar and garden area. It is in Cannaregio, but not a bad walk to Rialto or San Marco. The hotel has a wonderful guide when you check in with some very nice tips. Never received such a memo before. Very nice touch. Breakfast is very nice too. While in Venice, definitely eat at Anice Stellato! It is a short walk from the hotel on the Sensa. Local place, awesome food, and locals eat here. The Anice staff very helpful choosing from Venetian specialties. The hotel has daily free trips to Murano by taxi (expect a soft sell from the factory). Mini bar with great TV options including pay movies.

We went on a Costa cruise for our honeymoon, and it left from Venice. Since neither my husband or I had ever been to Europe, we wanted to spend a couple of night before the cruise in Venice. I searched and searched for good hotels, and after looking on this website, I decided that a hotel that is in the top 25 of over 300 reviewed hotels, MUST BE GREAT! And we couldn't beat the price. We knew it was a little bit away from the center of the action, but we're on our honeymoon...a little seclusion is nice!
After arriving at the airport, we walked 7 minutes (I think it was less) to the water taxis and it took us right up to the entrance to the hotel. We arrived early in the morning, but a room was ready for us. We had a standard room with a courtyard view, and it WAS standard...but it was great for the price we paid for it! There was no alarm clock in the room, and we forgot to pack one...but we found that the TV had a little clock on it, and you could set an alarm through the hotel services on the TV!
After freshening up, we ventured out into the city. The island of Venice is actually quite small, and we found that walking was just fine for us. As long as you have comfortable footwear! We bought a little map in the NYC airport before we left, and it was perfect. All of the maps show different things, and there are many little "calles" that are not on the map. That is the whole wonder that is Venice...to stroll along, with no destination in mind, get lost, find your way again, and still be awed by the beauty all around you.
Breakfast was great both mornings that we were there. I always had cereal and fruit, and they had these wonderful warm croissants with fruit filling inside. Tasty!!!!!!!
They spoke English just fine, and that was great for us. We tried to learn some Italian before leaving AND had a little book with us, but we never needed it!
