We were looking for an "inexpensive" hotel for an overnight stay in Paris before catching the TGV for Avignon. The bus from Charles de Gaulle airport stops at the Gare de Lyon, a one block walk from the hotel. A short walk to Notre Dame and all the Right Bank has to offer. The price was right - about 1/2 - 1/3 what hotels in the heart of Paris cost. Had dinner at an excellent restaurant across from the Gare. A fine breakfast was served. A modest hotel, conveniently located and priced right. Undergoing renovations, so go before the prices rise. 119 euro for two.

Great staff attitude

We chose this hotel for its location and price, but when we arrived (just before midnight) we learned that our reservation had been canceled, through some complications from my wallet having been stolen. The cheery desk clerk said "In Paris there is always a solution," made a quick phone call, and walked with us next door to the Hotel Viator, which did have a room although the lobby was under renovation. What a great helpful attitude! The Viator was just fine, and a little less expensive.
Avoid for several months

You should avoid this hotel for several months. Most of the corridors and hallways are covered in dust, paint, with new doors being fitted and suspended ceilings being removed for, I presume, smoke detectors to be installed. When we questioned the hotel staff on this they said that new regulations were being implemented throughout France which I assume must have occurred as a result of the dreadful Paris hotel fire in 2005.
In any event, the noise and mess associated with this hotel would suggest it is one you should avoid for several months until they complete the works.

Nice room, very helpful staff, good location. The rest of the hotel seemed to being renovated though - all the corridors were filled with plaster dust and the smell of paint!

My mother and I stayed here from late September to early October. We loved the convenience of the Gare de Lyon and the bustling train station neighborhood. The staff at the hotel was extremely helpful and friendly (they also spoke sufficient English to help those who do not know any French). We enjoyed our room immensely... it was exactly as described... you are not paying for a 4-5 star room here people! But you are getting a great value and location for your money. Overall had a wonderful trip to Paris and enjoyed some of the local haunts... especially a chinese restaurant near the hotel... not the one directly across the street. I believe it is located on rue de lyon. Great place to stay if you are aware of the European difference in hotel rooms.
