Hotel Neptunto

We stayed at the hotel on a self catering basis and can not fault anything about the hotel at all. The rooms were large and very clean the kitchen area we had in our room was excellent it had a fridge, hot and well stocked with plates and cups etc.
The hotel was very clean and the staff all very friendly the pool area was great.
We only ate at the hotel once prefering to eat out at the local restaurants but the food was good although a little expensive If you stay in the resort I suggested you try to make it up to the post to try some of the seafood restaurants which were excellent !!
Overall we all enjoyed our stay at the hotel and the resort it was a very nice quite place and best suited for couples with familys

Hotel facilities ok and rooms good but food in the evening was boring and sometimes tasteless. The veg were dreadful... no sign of a normal potato anywhere, just chips, fried croquettes, hash browns and piped tube shaped things! 'Green' veg were greyish in colour and the broccoli was just mush. All the veg looked as if they had been delivered frozen rather than prepared in the hotel from fresh. One night they put out mashed potato which was so obviously instant mash. With all that delicious fruit and veg grown locally it was a crime against food to provide the choices they did. One night in the limited choice of desserts they put out TINNED fruit salad!! There was fresh fruit available in a fruit basket so we mainly had that and it was delicious. Never come home from any holiday craving a particular food but the first thing I had was a boiled new potato - no fat or oil in sight! Breakfasts were good with a number of cereal choices, cakes, hams, cooked food etc. Resort ok, huge long beaches and promenade to walk along and all on the flat so good for pushchairs and wheelchairs etc. Previous reviews have said more 3* than 4* and we would definately agree with that. Reception staff very helpful but restaurant staff miserable - not surprised if they have to eat that food too!

On arrival the room wasn't ready so we had to wait for 10 mins but when it was it was spotless, and also very spacious and comfortable. we requested a cot on booking but was told we had to pay for the use by the hotel when we got there, however we put across our point and they let us off. The swimming pool area was lovely and clean and there was plenty of sunbeds to go round. The breakfast was very good all sorts to choose from and they will cook all different eggs if you ask. The evening meal was nice about 5 of the 7 nights. The service was excellent from the reception staff and dining staff however it was let down by the bar staff who where a bit slow and not very polite. The resort was lovely and clean and everyone was friendly from locals to holiday makers there is a very nice British bar called M25 which served lovely chicken dishes at lunch too right outside the hotel. Theo's bar is a good place to go for night life however its about 20mins walk but only 4 euros in taxi. Totally enjoyed this holiday and i do recommend the hotel itself.

We spent a family holiday here, in a self catering apartment between 17-24 June 2007. We had our two daughters with us aged 11 and 12. If you're looking for lots of nightlife and entertainment then this hotel/apts is not for you. In fact the entire resort of Roquetas de Mar is not for the party animal or people who need entertaining. The apartment was very clean and well equipt except for a kettle which isn't a huge drama as we just used a pan instead. The apts are equipt with a coffe maker though.
The Netuno isn't a four star but is a decent three star. The Neptuno is central to all restaurants and bars and is 2 minutes walk to the beach. Easily the best quality of the Neptuno is the pool which is large enough to cater for all the hotels guests and has water slides and a waterfall. Luckily, we had good weather for the whole week and our kids loved being in the pool otherwise if the weather hadn't been on our side then we'd have struggled to find things for the kids to do. If the weather had of turned poor we'd have hired a car and explored the many costal towns in the area. There's also a large waterpark just on the outskirts of Roquetas.
We mainly spent our evenings in restaurants of which there are lots to chose from locally. We asked around and sampled many average or below average ones before eventually settling on The 'AYDA' restaurant which is just 2 mins from the Neptuno. The first few evenings we were there we wondered up and down the main drag desperately looking for signs of life or decent entertainment in the bars, and bumped into many other Brits doing the same. We eventually realised that we were wasting our time as the resort is based around the restaurant scene. This isn't a bad thing but can be a bit boring for the kids.
The resort does suffer badly from flies. How bad they are when you arrive will depend upon whether the council has bothered to spray the area lately. When we were there the council were due to spray soon (so we were told). They can get pretty annoying when sunbathing and eating. The fruit flies are attracted to wine and it was a common occurrance to see two or three floating in your glass.
Despite the flies, we had a good relaxing break here.
