This was a total surprise. I just "landed" in Murcia without any bookings. My colleague found it thru Bookings.com and i can assure you it is worth every cent.

We stayed for one night and thank goodness that was all. The staff are unhelpful and almost verging on rude. I was kept waiting at the reception desk for at least 5 minutes before the 2 staff stopped chatting amongst themselves. At check out we told the staff that we had parking (provided underground the hotel) and paid for this but when we had taken the lift down loaded our luggage and driven round to get out we realised that they hadnt even given us the ticket to get out. The rooms are cheap wood veneer and look like an 80's travelodge. The sheets had a cigarette burn on them as well as the nightstand and as for the beds you just turn over in the night and they squeak so badly it wakes you up. The only good points were it was clean and the communal areas are very nice. Overall I definatley would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

We stayed at the Nelva because we were meeting someone staying there while at a conference. We paid 103 euro per night not including breakfast. The physical environment is great - I echo what others have said, lovely peaceful spaces, spotless and great quality fittings. I particularly loved the bathrooms. However the staff seemed (mostly) miserable and stern. Sure, we are a family, not business travellers, but we are tidy and polite and not at all demanding. when we arrived there were (seriously) SEVEN people in stern grey suits behind the desk, somehow all managing to look busy. Check in was ok - not actively rude, not pleasant. The pool is nice though not really suited for young children (which was fine). Main audience seemed to be thin, bored wives of businessmen on conferences.
We had breakfast there so we could spend time with our uncle, but at 11 euro each it wasn´t really worth our while - an impressive selection and great if you are not paying for yourself, which he wasn´t! We have had such great meals elsewhere for 8 euro for three courses, we just didn´t get value in comparison - but that´s not the hotel´s fault, for their market (business) it would not be an issue.
To sum it up, at a four star hotel I would not expect the desk staff to sigh when I ask politely if they could please call a cab. I would expect bar service by the pool (or at least at the outdoor seating if not actually by the pool), and not to be asked to bring the glasses back when we finish. Four star should be more than just posher rooms, hotels are in the service industry after all!
So if you are on an expense account, go for it!

What can i say, what a wonderful hotel!
Looking for a quiet 2 night break i decided to opt for this hotel on [--]
There was a great deal which was €80 a night including breakfast and free underground parking.
I did struggle to find the hotel i admit! Murcia like any other Spanish town has had its road infrastructure designed by a 5 year old child! But in the end we found it and kept a map with us at all other times!
The hotel is new and you can see the quality as soon as you walk through the door. The rooms are fantastic, widescreen LCD tvs with Sky News and BBC News available also some pay per view movies etc...
The bathroom is wonderful, double sink, massive mirror, hydro shower which massages you everywhere!
The staff were all fantastically helpful, some spoke English but not all.
We went for one meal in the Negro-oro restaurant, the menus were all in Spanish with no English translations but we got there in the end, reasonable to high price for meals but they were quality.
The outside bar is great, we never had an empty glass with the attentive waiter on hand, plus a steady stream of nuts and chocolates! wonderful! Great comfy couches to lounge on, it was utterly wonderful.
The next day we had the whole pool area to ourselves, fantastic pool and expensive sun-loungers as apposed to the plastic cheap rubbish! Towels were given at the pool too which were large and fluffy, mmmmm
Overall the experience of the hotel Nelva was amazing and i visited again last week for good measure.
There is a great shopping centre in Murcia just off the motorway next to IKEA, definitely give it a look, i spent far too much!
Get it booked!

Easily found by car on the city’s “ring road” Avenue del Primero de Mayo you can drive straight into the large underground car park. Which is a blessing if you have ever tried to park on the streets of any city let alone one in Spain. The lift takes you up into the marbled floored spacious spotlessly clean reception area where our check in was quick efficient and done with a warm smile from the very helpful staff. Our good sized bedroom was on the 3rd floor overlooking the rear garden area and swimming pool. Our bedroom had a large king size bed in a well decorated room with a huge plasma TV and plenty of wardrobe space which also contained a safe. The room had a mini bar but no tea / coffee making facilities. For my wife and I the bed was too hard and also the main pillow wasn’t much better but there was an addition soft pillow in the wardrobe. We both suffer from back problems so beds away from home can be unsuitable for us. A large bathroom with separate bath and power shower also had two sinks and was well lit. Good size bath and hand towels which were changed every day and they also supplied tooth brush, paste, a razor and shaving cream, comb along with the usual hire shampoo and bubble bath etc. If you use the swimming pool they give you large towels but be warned the sun beds are few in numbers and are so hard as their made with wooden slats and do not have cushions. This hotel is geared up for conferences with large meeting rooms so although the swimming pool is big enough for a swim the lack of sun beds or chairs is a reflection that it is not really a main holiday location .Having said that we did see several families with children using the pool during our stay. The reason we choose the hotel was its easy access to the motorway system as we were looking at villas to purchase in the surrounding area and at 60 Euros a night this hotel was great value. It’s a 5 minute taxi ride to the old town and restaurants or a good 20 minute walk. Just be very careful when walking as there is a very rough area to the left of the hotel as you leave the main entrance down a street called Avenida la Fama where we witnessed drug abusers. Every city has its problems but if you went into town by taxi ( 5-7 euro’s) you would properly never see the rough area.
