Stayed at this hotel for 5 nights in July. The hotel is in a relatively good area, a few minute walk from anything. However, don't think you'll have a nice view or anything like that. The only fairly good view is from the terrace on top of the building. Speaking of the terrace, the pool is a joke. Don't know why they bothered. It's like an oversized spa with a maximum depth of 1.2m. Good for kids, but forget about it if you are not mini-me. When I checked in they showed my to the smallest room I have ever seen in my life. It was also dark and tired. I refused to stay there and they showed me to a much better room on the 14th floor (about twice the size). I don't know whether that affected my bill at the end of the stay because work took care of the reservation etc. Staff was relatively friendly. There was a lot of it around and you could always ask questions etc. They all spoke very good English and were very helpful and knowledgeable. The breakfast was ok, but the room service was pretty awful. The burger was really bad, and the club sandwich just wasn't a club sandwich. There was internet in the room, but only through an ethernet connection, charged at about 15 reals a day. No wireless internet. The work space was average - more room would have been nice. Overall, the hotel was ok and I was satisfied with my stay. However, next time I would certainly stay at the Palace - it may be more expensive but it seems to be really worth the difference. One tip: just a few minutes from the hotel there's a restaurant called Cervantes, that serves the best sandwiches in the country. Truly outstanding! Try the pork and pineapple sandwich. Have fun in Rio! It's a great city populated by great people.

Me and my friends stayed at this hotel for 5 days at the beginning of april this year. I have to say that it was overall a nice stay. The hotel is clean, the toilets is sparkling, you have a security box in your room and you can use it for free. The dimension of the room was good enough and we have tv with satellite (which we didn't use much but was good to have it). The only problem, from my side, was the fact that the windows cannot be opened completely but just a liiiiiittle little bit. Being in the room with a smoker was not easy coz there was no way that the smoke would find its way outside. The breakfast was good, the staff was nice and they spoke english. The location is quite central (some rooms, like our, was on the main road so bit noisy) but not on the avenida atlantica (also if it's just 5 minutes walk..). Big good point : they have a free shuttle to the airport. It runs only every two hours but if you manage to take it, you'll save the 70 reals of the taxi.

Stayed for 5 nights at the end of a South America Tour. Photos of the hotel are true to what you get. Pool/bar area is quiet small , but always a place to sit in the sun or under an umbrella! ( sun really does burn you ).Pool was warm and very clean. Towels were also provided. Bedroom and bathrooms are fine after all you are not spending the day in them. We used the restaurant a couple of times for the dinner buffet. There was a good choice of dishes,well presented and well priced. A couple of moments walk to the beach,atm very near and huge shopping mall just a stroll through the tunnel. Beach is very clean and food / drink kiosks on the promanade are very welcome.

I would agree with some comments from another business traveller below. I was a bit disapointed by the quality of the hotel compared to others I have been at in Ipanema. Pros: Fair budget price, convenient location close to my company's office. Clean rooms and fair breakfast buffet. Con's Looked like a 3* hotel-room style that does not match some of the best business hotel brands, neither by the quality of the room decoration / furniture nor the staff. Could hear the noise in the room next door like if they were in my room. Poor view on the appartment buildings around, surroundigs were mens's night club and apperaing unsafe at night. Overall, despite the savings I will not go there again on my next business travel where I enjoy good confort after long hours of work. But tourist travellers on a medium budget could trade-off the quality and comfort for a reasonable price and get good time during the touring during the day.

This is a very good hotel. However try and get a superior room. Its worth it. Its a very clean, modern hotel. The staff are friendly and the buffet at breakfast is immense. There is a buffet for lunch which is a bit pricey but the quality of food is again excellent. Check out the bar and pool on the roof - there's also a gym. There is internet acces on the second floor which is about $5 for half an hour. If you want a very good value hotel in Rio - this is all you need.
