I called 3 months early to reserve 4 adjoining rooms for a family trip. We were bringing 3 daughters and 4 grandkids to celebrate our 50th anniversary. We had stayed here twice before and really enjoyed the stays both times. I also called a day before arrival to confirm 4 adjoining rooms would be available, advised no problem. Upon arrival,I was informed we did indeed have 4 rooms, but, not adjoining, when I mentioned I had reserved months in advance,I was given a shoulder shrug and told "Sorry,we do the best we can" However, when one of my daughters complained her air conditioner wasnt working, she was cheerfully and promptly given a room adjoining her sister, which didn`t seem to be available 30 minutes earlier, Go figure. Anyway, the kids enjoyed the nice, big pool,we enjoyed the daily happy hours with a nice, friendly bartender, the breakfasts were great except for the hair my husband found in his bowl of fruit cocktail. My daughter really enjoyed the dinner she won free upon check in at her turn on the slot machine. When we walked into Jaques with a party of nine, the hostess seemed shocked, but, rallied and shoved some tables together for us and we enjoyed a great meal, (warning) expect to wait at least an hour for your food. so,I went there early the next evening and put our name down for a table for 9,but,upon arrival, was curtly told there were no tables, despite the fact there were several empty tables in the dining room. Ater we waited about half an hour, she gave up and again shoved some tables together for us,again,we really enjoyed the meal when it finally came. To sum up,the good parts are:: the pool, the happy hour, the location, the food(when you can get it). The bad::rooms are non too clean, the place is clearly getting run down, staff does not seem as friendly and caring as in prior years, also, the cannon in the courtyard is missing, dont bother making reservations either for rooms or in the resturant, they are clearly not top priority. We loved this place in previous years, but, will probably not come back.

To be honest, I "almost" stayed here. We originally chose this hotel because we wanted to visit the Civil War memorial close by. After a 6 hour drive we walked into the lobby and were greeted by the screeching of a parrot. Horrendously loud screeching. We stood there for a few minutes deciding what we wanted to do and ended up leaving to another hotel that was much more peaceful and quiet. This is not a place I would recommend if you want to relax.

I was traveling east on 20 and stopped in looking for a bargin. I am a SUCKER for good advertising. Rooms $40 and up, Sports Bar and Resteraunt next door (9-of-10). Up the hill I went to check prices of the Batlle Field Inn. Looked OK! The counter cut me a deal "I'm an active duty G.I." Put me up in a decent room, CHEAP! (10-of-10) Thanks for that...Battlefield Inn! Had a good night in the room, "Monday Night Football" ....FAIR TV Channel (6-of-10) selection "Free Premium Channels". Ordered a hamburger and Fries. (6-of-10). Shower had great pressure and unbelievable volume! (10-of-10)....I use less water to wash my car than I used in 10 minutes....WOW! Got ready for bed and then it happened!!!! BANG!!! I went to brush my teeth and got very scared! Looked like something very bad happend in that room. Brown splattters on the BR door jam. Brown splatter spots on ceiling by front door, brown spots on clothes rack area. Fresh paint on bathroom ceiling...all going from in the bathroom OUT???????????????? I asked if anything happened in that room and the Staff said NO! I showed them the unclean areas and the quicly gave me a new room. They assured me nothing NEGATIVE happened in that room and that was it! If it wasn't the horrible thing I suspected, then it was a very UNCLEAN ROOM! (1-OF10)...I was concerned for my health! OVERALL (4-of-10)

"Faded Charm" says it all

A previous reviewer used the title "Faded Charm." That sums up the Battlefield Inn perfectly. The rooms are clean enough, but a really major overhaul is needed. It has the charm of the 1960s roadside motels. The breakfast buffet is satisfactory, but I wouldn't advise eating an evening meal there. The pool is great, and there is a playground for little kids. The macaws in the lobby are interesting, and there are free drinks in the lobby every evening. The air conditioning in the room, though, blasted mildew all night. At $75 a night, though, you could get a much better room at a major chain.

I recently (against my better judgment) at the Battlefield Inn in Vicksburg, MS. I had been driving all day so after looking at and turning down several rooms I finally took the least of the evils. Some rooms the A/C didn’t work, some the toilets and/or bathrooms
were filthy, and one room had a bare power wire sticking from under the A/C unit. This is an old motel and the rooms show it. At check-in I was quoted a room rate of $96.00, which I thought was outrageous for two adults and a teen, even with my AARP discount and all the trouble I went thru looking at rooms. On check-out the next morning I was quoted at over $100.00. After some haggling they finally changed the rate back. I plan to return to Vicksburg in the near future but you can bet I will not be staying at the Battlefield Inn.
