This Hotel is in a fabulous location, only a minutes walk to La Rambla. We booked a double room which is far smaller than if you get a twin room. Initial reaction when we walked in was 'ohh this is small' but that said, it was clean, and the en suite shower was first class. The room was fairly noisy with traffic outside but this is only to be expected when you are right in the nerve centre of the city. Basically we wanted a comfortable hotel, close to La Rambla that was clean and mid priced and The Gran Ducat ticket all of these boxes.
On a general point for those going to Barcelona, we paid 7 euro for a pint of lager on La Rambla but only 3 euro literally round the corner on the main Catalunya Square in the 'Hard Rock Cafe' which was easily on a par for atmosphere.
We recommend you do the Tourist bus scene but go for the red and blue routes ahead of the green one as this was far less interesting than the first two.
Oh and watch out for rip off cabbies. A 7 euro cab fare turned into 16 euros as we got an unrequested mini tour of the city.

pros: EXCELLENT LOCATION! ? block from Placa Catalunya (top of Las Ramblas) within walking distance of major attractions; metro stop: aeroport bus stop; hop on hop off bus; tourist information office; supermarket (Ingles) similar to Wal-Mart
English speaking friendly, helpful staff;
Clean hotel; comfortable beds; Free computer center; Wi-Fi; breakfast (11 euros) other options within same block. Free roomsafe. complimentary water in lobby a nice plus when you return from exploring Barcelona.
cons: Hotel is noisy @ night because people stay up all night & are very loud returning to their rooms. there is no carpet throughout hotel thus sound travels. metro runs under the hotel during the day but stops running around 1pm.
I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here again for it's location & helpful, friendly staff.

I stayed here with my husband and parents for five nights. It was a nice basic hotel but with no restaurant/bar as such. Breakfast is served in a small cafe/shop style room. The rooms are small but clean and functional.Excellent location and friendly staff . It is located on a busy road so noise levels can be high but if you are 3rd floor or above its fine. It makes for a nice budget hotel.
