Good apart from getting a smoky room

This hotel is in a good location, the room I had was recently renovated and was clean and smart. It had all the standard mod cons for a hotel of its class. Check-in staff were friendly and efficient. I paid ?179 for a single room which I thought for Milan wasn't too bad. The major flaw in the hotel for me was that I was given a non-smoking room but it clearly had guests who had been smoking there. The room smelled really badly of stale smoke, I called and asked to change room and was told quite bluntly that there were no other rooms available and given no apology for it whatsoever. Unfortunately I had checked in at about 11.30pm so I had no option but to stay there. Apart from this I enjoyed a nice breakfast the next morning and efficient check-out staff. However, the way they dealt with the room issue would put me off booking there again.

Don't stay here in April!

This otherwise inoffensive hotel stay was ruined by the hotel's policy of not turning on the air conditioning during the winter months which included April.
We happened to stay on two moderately warm days and we had two sleepless nights due the heat, humidity and complete lack of circulating air within the room. It ws in fact difficult to spend any time within the room at all.
The design of the windows meant that very little air came into the room even when they were open. We had the choice of either sleeping with the window closed and having no air or slepping with the windows open and having a small amount of air. Unfortunately this meant that none of the double glazing, curtains or black out blind (which was broken) could be utilised. This meant that there was a large amount of noise from the tram that runs right next to the hotel. To add insult to injury, the hotel sign was right outside our window and glared into the room. I had both earplugs and an eyemask and I still couldn't sleep!
We complained on three occasions and were told that nothing could be done as it was winter season and the local govnt has placed restrictions on emissions that mean that the air con cannot be used. The heating was apparently turned off in our room but this made little or no difference. This on two days that we needed to wear a jacket when outside.
On check out the check in manager did wave the 30 Euro bill that we had on our room when we explained that we were exhausted! However, he did not have an answer for why the public areas in the hotel appeared to have air con in use. The roof terrace that is advertised for the hotel was also not in use as the awnings were being replaced.
They do have English speaking movies to rent in the room for 11 Euro a pop. Drinks in the bar are very expensive with a beer setting you back 8 Euro. Weirdly the mini bar is much cheaper.
We arrived in Milan by car and the hotel was not immediately obvious on the square. we parked in the nearby Diaz square where it is 25 Euro a day to park. On check in, the hotel advised that they have an arrangement with another car park that is 30 Euro a day, is open 24hrs and you can pay at the hotel desk rather than at the car park. We chose to leave the car where it was.
Decor of the room was very nice and the room size was aceptable.
All in all, a very disappointing experience in a 4 star hotel. I recommend that one visits here in the dead of winter or waits till May till they turn on the air con!

We stayed here on a brief side trip to Milan. Excellent location, about 3 blocks from the Duomo, and just across from a Metro station. Big city area, but felt relatively safe, even in the evening. Hotel is elegant, with small comfortable bar lobby and nicer restaurant upstairs. Several big elevators lead to beautiful curving hallways. The room was large, comfortably furnished with updated pieces, comfortable beds, beautiful wood floors. Well laid out though not huge bathroom. Flat screen desktop TV. I did hear quite a bit of street noise early in the morning. Service was polite and helpful. Internet in the lobby area for a fee. Overall, good comfort and location but not cheap.

I had a good time

Clean, nice rooms and very helpful staff in the reception. Breakfast was ok, not in very high standards, but okay.
Overall my review is that the Hotel is very good mainly for its ideal location in downtown Milano. However, I believe that its a bit overpriced for euro185/day that I paid but that is okay if you take into account its good location.
In case you want to rent a car note that hotel does not have a parking space but it is 5 min from Avis offices so its really easy to pick up and deliver the rented car without any hasle.
How to go:
I believe the easiest, fastest and cheapest way is by train
From Malpensa aiport take the coach MALPENSA EXPRESS (with cost 11 euro/person) about 50min travel up to Cadorna station.
Then take the metro (under Cadorna) red line to Duomo (with cost euro 1/person. Note in case you will continue your walks in Milano the same day it is better to take the unlimited ticket for euro 3/ person per day) .
At Duomo you can walk to the hotel if you have no baggages.
In case you have baggages continue with the yellow line to Missiori station (one stop) and there is the Hotel.
Where to eat:
a) Realy excellent place is Nabucco restaurant in Via Fiorri Chiari, Milano 20121, tel 0286 0663.
The food was very good!!! and the prices were normal at about 80 euros for two persons with wine,
Giorgio (maitre) is very polite and a real gentleman. Abdul, the waiter was very polite also.
I have to say a big thanks to both for the sweets they offered us for the birthday of my wife.
b) I didn’t like the restaurant Nuovo Romani that they suggested form the Hotel. A bit expensive, and my food (both risoto and main course) was not good.
If you want to travel around (rent a car):
I suggest to choose ip between Como, Lugano, Bellagio, Isola bella or the outlets outside Milano.
Have a nice Trip(advisor)

The hotel was next to the centre of Milan (Duomo) which was what we wanted so could be walking distance from centre. The hotel is nice from outside but it feels old in the inside and in need of a decorator. The room smelled dump and when we opened our curtain we couldnt see a thing cause there were builders tools outside... Staff was very helpfull and the breakfast average...Anyway I would only recommend it for the great location
