we just came back from the Grande Real Hotel.
just looked a bit better to all the reviews in this site, and i am sorry to say that if i have read also the bad reviews is would not have come to this hotel.
see the review with the title "disappointing" all what is in this review has not been made better by the hotel.
we also had the Suite but how can anyone sleep on these carbort beds. many people were complaining on the beds and so did we. we got a small matras to put over the wooden box. this didn't help much. we woke up more tiered than the evening going to bed. how can a 5* hotel has such bad beds? also we have payd a lot of money for this room, so we would expect good beds.
please look at the Sofitel, we payd 150 euro for a room with a dream bed. (sleeping on clouds they call it) and what a differents with the beds in this 5* hotel.
also food was terrible. we could only eat at 2 restaurants with our small child. Sea restaurant was great but the Buffet was teriable. and for lunch??? burger place or again that terible buffet. why don't open more restaurants for lunch??
also many childeren, this was nice but make a nice pool for small childeren. the childeren pool was really to small for all the childeren. you have enough space to make a beautifull childerens pool with small slides & sprinklers. also make this with a sun roof. afternoon is realy to hot in the sun for small childeren.
last point. let your staff learn englisch, i had to walk many times with the pool staff to point out in the bar what i want to order.
ok if Englisch is a problem let them have a small (drink) menu with them so people can point out what they want.
i am sorry to say we will not come back to this hotel.
i hope the manager will also reply to this review.

We have just come back from a most enjoyable holiday at the Grande Real Santa Eulalia. Ages ranged from 5 to 71, and all three generations were very reluctant to leave.
The hotel itself deserves 6 stars for the excellence of the amenities, the food and the friendly and efficient service. We were on half board, but guests are permitted to use not only the regular family restaurant but also any of the other "gourmet" restaurants and are given a generous allowance of 40 euros to spend against the a la carte menu. I have not found this in other hotels. The food itself is outstanding, with plenty of fresh seafood and, for example, six varieties of ice cream.
The hotel has its own beach and four swimming pools. There is an excellent spa, with gymanasium and thalassotherapy. The staff are very friendly and efficient.
All in all this was one of the best holidays ever, and we are already talking about returning next year.

Our Best Beach Holiday Yet

Overall, my husband and I decided that this was the best beach holiday we have ever been on, narrowly beating Sandals Resort in the Caribbean a couple of years ago. The combination of a fantastic hotel, good beach, and plenty of things to do made for a great time.
Food
My husband and I are both vegetarian and so good food is often tricky for us to find on holiday. However, I would say that the food in the hotel and nearby restaurants was probably the best we have had on holiday.
The breakfast buffet is very extensive, including a wide selection of cereal, cooked food (including baked beans, a bit of a rarity to find on the continent), cakes, fruit etc. This really was the best hotel breakfast we have ever had. My only slight criticism would be that the waiting staff were often a bit too eager to remove plates etc from the table before we had completely finished with them, I think resulting simply from a desire to be helpful, rather than to hurry us along.
The pool bar was good for a light lunch, and does a very nice vegetarian sandwich, amongst other things.
We used room service a lot, as the menu was the most appealing to us, and the prices were quite reasonable. My husband was even able to order me a baked potato with beans and cheese, even though this wasn't on the menu. The room service pizzas were also very good.
Room
The room was spacious, nicely furnished and decorated with plenty of wardrobe/cupboard space, a good bathroom etc. We stayed in a central sea veiw room, which I would highly recommend.
It could get a bit noisy there on the odd evening, due to it's proximity to the place where the musicians would set up for the evening. However, when we rang reception about this, they got the music turned down for us.
Facilities
With several bars/restaurants, several pools, a gym, spa, Thalasso pool, tennis courts etc, the hotel was very well equipped to make our time spent in the hotel resort itself very enjoyable. I would highly recommend the Thalasso pool, which is very relaxing.
Service
The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. One point that deserves a special mention is that it was my husband's birthday while we were there and they surprised him by delivering a birthday cake and some champagne to our room, which was really nice.
Location
The hotel is situated right next to a lovely sandy beach. Considering the time of year that we went (end of June), the beach was not overly crowded, which was pleasant. There was also plenty of sunbeds/parasols available for hire.
The location of the hotel is a little bit away from the town of Albufeira, at about a 30 minute leisurely walk. However, the hotel does have a free regular bus service into town, which was useful. If you are relying on the ability to order a taxi, be aware that waiting times to get one are incredibly varied, and it can be particular difficult in the evening. The taxi system in Albufeira works by the hotel sending out a general request for a taxi, and then a taxi can answer this if they wish. Because the hotel is a little out of the way, we got the impression that taxis sometimes avoided answering our hotel's requests. However, if you book an activity/excursion etc, be aware that most companies will arrange pick up from the hotel, though the hotel may not be aware of this, so it is a good idea to explicitly check this with them.

5 stars hotel in everyway! I?ve to say, that this is what i call a great hotel. Form the incredible beach in front of the hotel (wich i wasnt able to use cause it was november) to the great Le Club (disco), i?ve really enjoyed my stay at the hotel. The rooms was huge, and extremly clean, the staff where always very polite, the Pergula restaurant was also very very good, and of course, the garden around the pool with a great sea view was also very pleasent.
Must say that wasnt able to use all the facilities from the hotel because i was on business, but the 3 nights that i spent there where really good providing quality time.
It doesnt even compares to Real Bella Vista, aldo the price of course it quite diferent. This is in fact, the negative point of this hotel. It isnt cheap, but when you want some luxury, you have to pay for it, so you wont regreat your money.

This was our third trip to the hotel. We have had fabulous holidays here on each occasion. We have a five year old daughter who thinks the hotel is wonderful. During each visit she has made the most of the heated pools, even during bad weather and has thoroughly enjoyed the Kid's Club, often asking to go morning and afternoon. It is a great place for families, if the children are happy, the parents are happy.
We have always stayed in a one-bedroom apartment so that we have a little more flexibilty. The rooms are spacious, very well appointed and very clean.
The front desk staff are pleasant and very helpful. If you arrive and find that something is not what you thought or can't find an easy way to the beach etc. just ask the hotel staff, they have always been more than willing to answer any queries for us.
We have only been home a week and our daughter is already asking when we are going back! We are sure it won't be too long before we are checking in again.
