This hotel is a real gem, right on the beach, excellent rooms, friendly staff, kids loved it, my wife loved it, I stay in hotels for about 150 nights a year and this is one of the best I have seen. If you are driving between PE (Addo maybe) and Cape Town this is a great place to stop. Mossel bay is a place to stop over rather than visit, but stay an extra day and enjoy African Oceans.

While travelling the garden route we planned a stop in Mosselbay and choose the African Oceans Manor as our place to stay. In the presentation it all looks fabulous. In real it wasn't all that fabulous and even so that we cut our stay short.
The first disappointment is the location of the manor located in a residential area some 7 km out of town, where the building fits in perfectly to all the surrounding houses. The reception was friendly but a bit strange. The second disappointment is that we were told that the room we had booked, was not available and were therefor moved to a room overlooking the parkingarea in stead of a sideview to the sea. Our room also had the entrance from the parkingarea. If we wanted we could upgrade to another room, but leave us still no seaview and we would have to pay extra of course. The room as well as the main areas were spotlessly clean. But besides the 'view' the third disappointment was the decorative style of our room. In short it would appeal very much to senior citizens I guess, but not to us in our mid thirties. The breakfast on the other hand was nothing less than perfect in the breakfast lounge overlooking the bay area.
The fourth disappointment is something that the manor can't do anything about is that Mosselbay it self is quickly on it's return. There is not much to do in town and many of the restaurants have closed down or were closed the night we were looking for a place to eat.
All things considered we find that the manor does have it's qualities, but is not appealing much to young(er) people, due to the design and the location.

Fantastic small Guest House

This Guest House was fab. As described in their website, right on the ocean with fantastic views. We stayed in Suite 3 and were in awe when we saw the size of the room for what we paid. Breakfast superb and overlooking the ocean just added to the romance of it all. Staff very friendly and helpful. Complimentary shuttle bus to take you to selected restaurants in Mossel Bay at night and returns to pick you up but not if you are staying out late! Would definitely go back to stay here.
