We booked the Hotel Ambra as part of a package deal to Budapest for the weekend. Although its 4 star rating wouldn't hold up in Ireland, we found it to be in a great location, so central that we walked almost everywhere. The rooms were clean, and the breakfast was adequate. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and we would definitely go back.

My wife and I stayed for a week in mid-September 2007. The hotel is in an excellent location, two blocks away from Andrassy Avenue, the Fifth Avenue of Budapest. The hotel is on a very quiet street, convenient to several restaurants and shopping. The staff is very pleasant and accommodating. The room is large and clean with very comfortable mattresses. My criticisms are as follows: there are no dressers with drawers to accommodate shirts and underwear and there are no shelves in the bathroom for toothbrushes, shampoo…etc. This forced us to live out of our suitcases for the entire stay. They could also use a small desk for writing post cards and an Internet connection. This may seem frivolous but they could use more English language channels on the television. Breakfast was okay but monotonous. Finally, the room was quiet and the air-conditioning was perfect.

La camera era abbastanza grande ma molto sporca, il tappeto sembrava non essere stato pulito da settimane, e le attrezzature della camera cadevano a pezzi. Non é un posto dovi ci si può rilassare. Non sono riuscito a capire perché lo chiamano un "Club Hotel", non è che un comune albergo. Cercate di evitarlo.

Das Zimmer war ziemlich groß aber sehr schmutzig, der Teppich starrte vor Dreck, die Zimmereinrichtung war kaputt. Kein gemütlicher Platz. Und ich konnte nie erkennen, warum es ein Club Hotel sein soll, es ist einfach ein durchschnittliches Hotel. Vermeidenswert.

The room was quite large but very dirty, the carpet seemed not to be cleaned since weeks, the room equipment rotten. No place to feel well. And I never could find out why it is a club hotel, it is just a regular hotel. Try to avoid it.
