We booked on venere.com late the night beforeour arrival, and when we arrived the next morning everything was ok, including our special requests. We got a good rate as well. The welcome service was not extremely friendly, but it was ok - and our overall stay was nice. It is a very good location, specially if it is your first stay in bergamo. Basically across the street from the train and bus station-and in walking distance to the shopping and also to the old city. The room was clean andbigger than other rooms we have hadin italy. Breakfast was more than just the normal croasaint you getin italy - it actually had a buffet.

Stayed for 3 nights at the Hotel Piemontese. Found the rooms clean and staff friendly and helpful. Air conditioning is fantastic we almost forgot it was hot outside! Breakfast is basic but what you expect for continental. Check out is 10am however there is an area to leave luggage. The location is directly opposite the train station, with trains to milan and lake como and buses to the old town. A little disappointed that the hotel did not have its own bar as we arrived late at night. However there is a pleasant cafe bar next door which is open most of the time. The restaurant Piemontese which joins the hotel but has a separate entrance is very good. Ate there twice and could not fault it. We went to the city tour of bergamo (13 euros each) which leaves from the train station. However would recommend just getting the local bus to the old town (1a) as this runs the same route. Buy tickets in the station.

Booked this hotel for its proximity to the station as we were arriving late on a Ryanair flight and leaving for Lake Como the next afternoon. Our room was rather grim to say the least, dark and dingy and very dated. The staff on arrival were pleasant enough, but whilst we were queuing the check out, the lady in front of us was rather upset as the hotel were trying to charge her an extra 100 euros a night for two small children staying in their rooms. The receptionist was very surly and unco-operative and only after being shown a booking email, which stated that children were an extra 15 euros a night, did she retract.
Breakfast was pretty awful, but the restaurant belonging to the hotel does serve decent food.
I would only recommend this hotel for its location, but would definitely not stay there again.

Only 20 minutes by service bus from the airport (1.65 euro). We arrived late at night and took a taxi (11 euro) instead of waiting for the bus.
The hotel is just opposite the train station, so handy for trains to Milan (1 hour), Brescia (1 hour), Verona (2 hours).
The old city, Citta Alta, is easily reached by bus. (You can buy 3 day bus pass) - or you can walk and take the funicular (closed for renovation - reopens end of May).
Hotel staff are friendly and helpful. There is internet access available in the lobby (30 minutes for 1 euro), but no facility for printing which means finding an internet cafe in order to print out the Ryanair online boarding pass. The nearest internet cafe is about 50 yards away: go out the hotel and turn right.
The restaurant next to the hotel is very good - in fact the standard of food in all the restaurants we ate in was good.
I would recommend Bergamo as a city worth visiting and as a good location for visiting other cities and the lakes. I would stay in the Hotel Piemontese again.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in April, and we couldn't fault the hotel for a short break. The location is perfect, just across the street from the railway station, (it's not in a bad area, like some railway stations). The bus to the old town leaves just outside the railway station, or if you feel like a walk, it takes about 30 minutes.
The breakfast is standard for a city hotel, just continental style but plenty to choose from.
The hotel and room was very clean and the staff were helpful and friendly.
The tourist information office is also across the road from the hotel and they proved very informative with regards to train times to Milan and Lake Como.
Bergamo is a great place for a long weekend and would recommend staying at this hotel. We found it was cheaper to book through the internet, than directly with the hotel.
