IL Guercino, Bologna, is a non-smoking hotel built in 2001 into the historical building and is named after the famous painter of the 17th century. It is constructed in Oriental style and is decorated in different styles. It possesses all the modern amenities. The hotel is equipped with 2 small terraces and a lovely garden. The hotel is a TCI Stanze Italiane prize winner in 2005. It offers the following services: 24-hour reception desk with multilingual staff that helps to book tickets to the theatre or places in the restaurant as well as concierge who can organize city tours. There is a meeting room for up to 30 persons equipped with the required facilities. Besides guests are offered a discount into the nearby fitness center and gym. The other standard amenities include: car park for the additional fee, lounge, lift, laundry etc.

Besides there are special rooms for disabled and for guests with pets (for additional fee). Some rooms have its own terrace. There are also private phones, safes, WI-FI Internet connection, minibars, tea and coffee makers as well as satellite TV.

IL Guercino, Bologna, is situated in Via Luigi Serra, only 300 meters from the main railway station of Bologna. 1.5 km from the hotel you can find the Trade Fair Centre, MAMbo, Piazza Maggiore, the Two Towers, The Fountain of Neptune and the Civic Archeological Museum. Nearby airports include Bologna G.Marconi Airport (in 7 km) and Forl Ridolfi Airport (in 70 km). It is just 15 minutes walk from the city center and Piazza Maggiore. It is just a stones throw to Via Indipendenza shopping street.

Excellent value for money and a great base for exploring the city, and the region - the station is very close by. The reception staff were knowledgeable and very helpful, and the room (the cheapest double) had everything one needed, including air conditioning - essential in Bologna in July! The hotel manages to combine the friendly and individual atmosphere of a boutique hotel with the clean, calm efficiency of a large one.

I stayed at Hotel Il Guercino in Bologna in June 2008 with my son. It was a very good deal, much cheaper than this site suggests, and we were pleased that it was as nice as it was. It has been recently remodeled in tasteful colors. There is a drive / archway between two buildings on the street which lead to it, so the hotel is not directly on the street. Our stay was quiet and comfortable. There were several lounges in the hotel one could hang out in. Breakfast was included but we slept in so we missed it. The street is near a bus line, so we got to the historical center that way. We had a rental car, and the hotel charged 16 euros to park inside the enclosure, but there was a parking lot down the street for 9 euros and metered parking on the street. I would definitely stay at Il Guercino again.

Rate was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed the hotel. The room was spacious and the bathroom was awesome. We had a huge walk-in shower. The staff was nice and the hotel is just blocks from the train station. Bologna is just a great city and good way to see how Italians live. Would definitely stay here again!

We spent two nights here in March and had a very enjoyable experience. The hotel is very convenient to the train station, and an easy walk into the town center. The staff was excellent and spoke good English. Free WiFi was nice and available in all rooms. They offered free bike rentals, which I would liked to take advantage of. The room was quiet, had everything we needed. Wasn't overly large, but typical for a nice hotel in Italy. I would certainly stay there again on another trip to Bologna.
