I highly recommend the Hotel Brittania if you are looking for a lovely, small hotel with a staff that will take excellent care of your every need while in Rome. We were greeted warmly in the charming lobby with a tray full of iced drinks, invaluable on this hot day. The hotel is air conditioned, the rooms are well appointed, comfortable and charming. Most importantly, not only had the staff taken care of all of our requests prior to arriving, they gently suggested improvements to our itinerary and dining choices that made our experience even better than we had planned for. If you visit, be sure to ask Mario to set up a dining experience for you at his favorite restaurant, we had a great meal and special attention was paid to us as if we were regular customers and old friends.

We just stayed 2 nights at the Hotel Britannia. The hotel is in a great location. It was quiet and the rooms were well appointed and clean.
Our room was not ready upon arrival at 1pm, which we expected and so we checked our luggage and headed out to sight see. We returned at 4pm and we were shown to our room by the house keeper who did not speak English. The breakfast was very good and we had a lot of choices. We asked the time of check out and we were told 12pm. We rushed back from Trestevere and arrived at the desk at exactly 12:05 and were scolded for being late?! We paid $425. per night to stay at this hotel. The lady at the desk was so rude, a five minute late departure is not unreasonable. We had the hotel keep our luggage until our driver arrived at 3:30pm. We were not even told goodbye or thank you when we left. We are very nice guests, not high maintenance, we leave a clean room, are polite to all of the help, tip well to the porters. I would not recommend this hotel as the last impression we were given upon departure was not a good one. For the price we paid I think there are more friendly hotels in Rome.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Britannia Hotel. We were greeted upon arrival with refreshments and very pleasant staff at the reception desk. The hotel is ideally located on a quiet side street within walking distance of the train station, the Roman Forum and the metro line. The rooms are attractive and adequately sized and the included breakfast was the most generous and attractive of all those we were offered in Italy. The hotel desk staff was fluent in English and most accommodating in helping us arrange for tours, a car and driver to take us back and forth to our cruise ship in Civitivecchia and to the airport, and recommending excellent restaurants for dinner. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to our friends.

An excellent stay in Rome!

My family and I especailly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Britannia. Since there are 4 of us, it was nice to have single beds for the kids. Our room had a very nice patio also. The kids enjoyed the miniature fish tank that every room has. The location of Hotel Britannia is terrific, only costing 8-10 euros to get to any nearby location from there. The breakfast buffet is wonderful, having a great variety of Italian breakfast foods. Advice: try the hot chocolate! The staff, including Enrico, Francesca, and Maddalena, was terrific as well. A stay in this hotel is a great stay indeed. We can't wait to return in the future!

Small double room with no view but comfortable bed and, unusually, a bathtub with shower over. The staff were all very friendly and helpful from our arrival from the airport via Termini station at about 11pm until we left after 3 nights stay. The breakfast is a real plus, catering for all tastes from fruit , yoghurt and muesli to eggs and bacon: the scrambled egg was particularly good. The hotel is easy to find, down a side street and, in our experience, quiet, though there is a popular Irish Bar just across the road. There are bus-stops within 200 yards and Termini station is about 5 minutes walk. The neighbourhood is quite salubrious and we did not feel at all threatened when returning late at night. Like all cities Rome has its fair share of vagrants but it semed no worse than central London. I did a lot of research before leaving the UK and, although the hotel is not cheap it seems to be reasonable value for money in Rome. Anyone travelling to Rome is well advised to take advantage of the Roma Pass which can be bought from most tobacconists. It gives you unlimited travel on public transport for 3 days and free entry into 2 museums with discounted entry thereafter. Entry to the Colosseum/Forum and the Villa Borghese is more than the cost of the Roma Pass so all your transport is free!
