Friendly and helpful staff. Had a small problem with the safe in the room and they sent someone immediately to look after it. Small room and long, narrow stair-case, winding at the top. We had the second floor so we did it twice. TOn our canal cruise, they explained why most of the buildings have staircases like this. It is because of land space and population density. So it appears that you will encounter this in most buildings/hotels. Blankets were a bit old and had a couple small holes in them.
Breakfast was great. Lots to choose from to eat and drink. We were able to leave our luggage at the front desk after we checked out in order to walk around for a few hours.
Directions to hotel from Amsterdam Centraal Stn:
Walk out of station, keep right, cross the canal and continue walking straight. until you get to Raadhuisstraat. You will recognize this street by the long "phalic-like symbol" on the left side of the street, there are steps on the bottom where people sit and relax...also lots of pigeons. Mak a right on Raadhuisstraat toward the Magna Plaza, then make a quick left and a quick right, cross the canal and the hotel is on the left.

My husband and I were looking for an inexpensive room that was centrally located. We got it. The hotel has a fantastic location. Sure, the stairs are steep, but that's common. What was worse was the staff and our room. The staff wasn't helpful and could hardly understand English. Our room was small, which was fine, but it wasn't very clean or well maintained. The room was on the street, which was very noisy. The weather was quite warm when we were there, but we had to close the window at night because of the noise. Also, the refrigerator didn't work. The breakfast was ok, nothing special. For the money you could probably find something better, but the location is tough to beat.

Love love LOVE the Di Ann

I stayed at this hotel 7th-10th March with my boyfriend and it was fantastic. Its not 5 star luxury but it did exactly what it said on the tin. Linen and towels were changed everyday, the reception staff were lovely and sooo helpful (especially with directing us to the late night convenience store one night!). They even looked fter luggage while we killed time before going to the airport. The cat was cute but didnt really see much of it!
Ok, breakfast is the same every day but WHO CARES! I love toast and cereal so was good enough for me! one thing i will say was they need another toaster! But if you get to breakfast early enough...... it so happened our room was right next door so we were always there quite promptly.
The location of the hotel is perfect and for the money we paid we couldnt have asked for more. Its in the middle of everywhere and boy did we walk everywhere!! The stairs would not be suitable for those of limited mobility (although there were quite a few older ladies staying there at the same time and they seemed to manage ok) if anything though it keeps you fit. there is a delightful pancake cafe downstairs and to the immediate right and also to the right after walking for 10-15 mins there is a late night convenience store (as beforementioned this was told to us by the night reception guy) handy for one more bottle of wine!
We did sooo much but there was still sooo much more we didnt have time for so are definitely going back later this year. And yes we will definitely be staying at the Di Ann.
Overpriced but decent hotel, great location.

We arrived in Amsterdam on a Saturday without a hotel reservation. One of the few affordable hotels we were able to get was the Di Ann. We needed a room for five people. Di Ann had a quad room available but they could fit a matress on the floor. The matress didn?t really fit but it worked. There was a smell of weed in some of the hallways, but then it is Amsterdam after all.. We paid 220 Euro?s for our room. The only justification for that price could be the central location. Bathroom was tiny. I am 1.90 m and I could not sit straight on the toilet, but it was clean. Breakfast was included in the price.
If you are disabled or have difficulty walking you need to know that this hotel has no elevator and very steep stairs. I would stay here again, but only because of its location.

From the picture it looked perfect. The location is brilliant some of the staff were very friendly and the cat is lovely. We were so looking forward to seeing Amsterdam but the minute we walked into our room our hearts sank. It was tired, dark, dingy and dirty. If I had not seen a sign saying no guests I would have said it was a very low class knocking shop. We slept in our clothes ontop of the bed as the sheets were marked and showered in our socks so as not to come into contact with the floor. We stayed out as late as we could to spend as little time in the room as possible. Breakfast was as tired as the room but we had to eat it to give us the energy to stay out!! In some respects it did spoil our trip as it was the first time we had been away for 4 years but Amsterdam is lovely I would deffinately go again but never to that hotel.
