Amaika - Calella, Costa Brava, Spain.
Hotel was spotless all the time. Food was as other guests reviewed it was much the same every day.
Sleeping in a room on the main parking road is not good it was very noisy. Nightclub , Disco and a latenight Cafe were open all night. Lot of youngsters screaming and chatting.
Unfortunately the football championships were on the week we where there so that did not help as spain eventually won. Horns played all night every match they won.
Would not go back to this resort or hotel.

Just back from a lovely stay in Hotel Amaika in July.
The hotel is superbly located minutes from the beach and local amenities.
The hotel itself is spotless, as are the rooms, which were cleaned thoroughly on a daily basis, with excellent air conditioning everywhere
All staff were very friendly and polite.
There is carpetting throughout the corridors which certainly keeps down any noise of late time revellers returning to their rooms.
The pool area is small but was fine for us,although families with young children may have struggled with the small childrens pool.
Meals were always hot,and there was always lots of choice.
Waiters served drinks to the table in the restaurant, which meant there was no queueing at the bar at mealtimes.
There are several H- Top bar facilites on the beach where you can use your All Inclusive card for 2 drinks each per day
This was great when you were lazing around at the beach area.
The only downfall at the hotel for families was the lack of entertainment both for children and adults, in the daytime and in the evenings.
Entertainment was available at other H- top hotels but no-one really wants to move away from their comnfort zone, do they ?
There is no games rooms either, so there's no snooker, or pool, no table tennis, darts, or rifle shooting and no game organised in the swimming pools either.
To summarise, we thoroughly enjoyed a laid back time, but families with children who like a busy, active time may be disappointed.

We were 7 girls on a hen weekend and decided on Calella purely because of our budget. The hotel is one hour transfer from Barcelona airport. The rooms and all areas of the hotel are immaculate and spacious. The hotel is suited to an older crowd and the entertainment is quite poor. Food is plentiful, but basic and we had no problems with the drink, but take your own tea bags. You can also have food and drinks in the Olympic Hotel, looks grotty didnt even go in!, and the Calella Palace. It has an adults only rooftop terrace with jacuzzis, very chilled. There is also a beach bar which you can use and get 2 free drinks, very easy to find. The beach was clean but sore on your feet as it is small pebbles. You should ask for room 105 or 106. They have the biggest balconies you have ever seen. They even have their own sun loungers and chairs! Glad we went A/I as drinks are between 5-6 euros in all the pubs which is scandalous. The best pub by far is the White Horse, it plays cheesy music, has large dance floor and pool tables. Found the cheapest drink and cigarettes to take home were accross from the hotel near McDonald's.

We were delighted with our holiday in the amaika hotel in calella.
We were a party of seven "ladies" ranging in age from 40's to 60's
As soon as we arrived we knew we had made the right choice!
We had booked with Hello Holidays & got everything we had asked for.
The rooms & indeed the whole hotel was spotlessly clean & we were surprised to get not only a bath but a shower cubicle in each bathroom also.
The hotel was very close to the beach & we were pleased to find that we could hire the sunbeds & umbrellas for the beach at the hotel in the morning for 2 euros each & for that we had 2 free drinks at the beach bar.!
We were quite satisfied with all the food in the restaurant & had no need to eat out at all!!
You could have as much to drink as you wanted but did not see any drunken behaviour in the hotel or indeed in the surrounding area.
There is the old town to wander round & do a little shopping if required.
We found the staff most helpful & all in all us LADIES WHO LUNCH had a very enjoyable week.
We cannot understand the bad reviews but maybe we were just very lucky.
