We stayed at this hotel to experience the new year festivities in Madrid (which were great by the way !). However, we left a bag on our bed during the 1st day we were at the hotel and when we returned in the evening the bag (containing a camera, return train tickets and various other presents) was no longer in the room. We reported the matter to the hotel who were less than useful. When we finally spoke to the Manager he basically accused us of making the whole thing up. We have reported the matter to the police in Madrid (who were very helpful).
Madrid is a great City but I'd advise you not to stay at this hotel.

This was a dreadful hotel. There was a door between our room and next room. We could hear every single noise from the next room. People in the next room talked till the morning on the first night. The second morning we woke up with a loud TV noise from next door again in the very early morning. If you do not want to sleep, then this please is ok. Otherwise it is waste of money. The only good thing was the location.

Stayed here while in madrid for business but would consider using it whenever in town. The rooms are pretty large and clean, although there is no real restaurant or bar there are plenty in the local area. Great little bar doing traditional spanish filled baguette across the road and a very friendly Irish pub next door where I watched a couple of football matches. Gran Via is a 10 min walk with all it's shops and the tourist attractions of Plaza Mayor and the Royal Palace. Metro stop is just on the corner and extreamlly easy to navigate your way round Madrid using this.

This hotel was very clean and decorated quite modern, however, I think we were in the modernised part of it - so if you go ask to stay in the updated side of the hotel. This hotel was quite small, it didnt have a bar but a couple of doors down was a pub - this was a perfect meeting place for us girlies, as we were on a Hen Weekend. The hotel was situated in the business district of Madrid, it was right on top of all the shops - Zara, Mango etc. To walk to Sol sqaure it took a good half an hour stroll, however there is an excellent metro service (so my friends told me, I didnt get the chance to use it) and I think it costs 1 euro for an all day ticket. Sol has a lovely square to visit with a cosmpolitan feel, I would recommend it for lunch and a beer after shopping, sightseeing. For the evening I would go to other parts of Madrid - we made the mistake of eating in Sol, and I thought it was over priced. We ate in Seville, we found a restaurant picked from the Lonley Planet Guide to Madrid - which is an excellent resource. From the airport, it cost all of us girlies different prices to get to the hotel, so maybe ask the driver "how much" before you ride. I think it was around 30 Euro. My friends used the Metro which only cost 1 Euro, and apparantly it goes directly from the airport and stops just around the corner from the hotel. Anyway, Ive digressed. This hotel is extremely good, good value for money, a cold buffet breakfast was included, which was very fresh. If I had to moan about anything it would be, the coffee out of the machine was yuk, a twix was £2 and our air conditioning in our room didnt work, but apart from that it was cool. Oh just as a by the by - as a tourist do not take for granted that the Spanish speak English, most spanish people did not, so read up on your phrases befor you go. Adios xx

This was the second time I've used this hotel, I find it a nice, quiet 3 star hotel. Reception staff all speak English, breakfast buffet is ok. Air con was not working when I went, but some hotels don't have it on until the hot weather arrives. Room was nice and clean, good bathroom with a large shower, plenty of towels etc. Irish bar nearby is Finbars, very friendly. Nearest metro is Arguelles, although you can walk to most places as the hotel is just off Gran Via. Average nightly price for a double room with bfast was £73 approx. Hotel happy to keep your luggage until your departure time as well.
