This golf/beach hotel is in a remote(ish) position for anything other than golf course and beach - any where else is not accessible without transport.
Very quiet out of season and when we left there were only 30 people left ihn hotel.
Room was good, spacious etc and room cleaning, service was ok.
We ate in hotel restaurant 1st night which was poor quality, poor service and no atmosphere - not to be recommended - better to take car and go into Pals(about 10 mins) to eat although not a great deal of choice there either but food ok to good.
The pool was not available to use and generally hoterl very quiet and service eg at bars etc slow to non-existent.
The breakfast was limited in choice for a supposedly 4 star hotel and service again only ok. Coffee/hot drinks served via a drinks machine - very poor and slow.
I would not rush to return and stay here even to play golf course which is excellent and in top 100 in Europe-better to stay elsewhere and travel.

Great upscale family hotel on the Costa Brava!

We stayed in here in a Junior suite in August with my wife and our 3 kids. This is a nice, small (120 rooms) hotel on the Costa Brava but far away from the mass tourism. We had half board, which included a nice 3 course meal in the evening.
The pool area was nice, with a large shallow end for kids, as well a zero entry area.
Beach was about a 50 metres walk. The hotel has a beach club. Rooms were renovated and clean. Staff was very friendly and responsive.
Expect to be nickled and dimed to some degree, which is a little bit irritating given the already steep prices (especially in August). They will charge you for the tennis courts, the beach chairs and the kid's buffet at night is a mind boggling EUR19!
Guests were about 95% spanish during the time we were there.

La Costa is a lovely mid size hotel located on a golf course, opposite the beach (50metres, own semi private beach).
There are 120rooms, hotel is well decorated, rooms well laid out, (we had a junior suite which was big) - its not cheap but ok for european standards (we paid 300euro per night for 2 adults and a child including a great breakfast - this is definitely better than most other 4 or 5 star hotels). We found the staff helpfull and pleasant.
The pool area is great - ideal for families with smaller kids. not much by the way of entertainment for older children, but than there is plenty of clubbing in the neighbourhood. Plenty deckchairs and shade if required. the lunch buffet is great - the standard of the food is very high. pricing for drinks is extremely reasonable for hotel standards.
Bar area a bit dull, with not a lot going on.
room service is fine, all rooms are cleaned meticulously.
Mix of people (it was high season) 50% spanish rest dutch, englsh Belgian.
We will come back in june or so next year for some golf. (low season pricing a lot better).
There is a definite lack of good hotels in this great area of spain, which is touristy but no high rise and lots of small beaches and old villages to visit. Food quaility (vs price) is excellent if you find the right restaurants.
