The Blau mar is a good standard 4 Star hotel Strengths It is clean and very well postioned within Salou It has good facilities inclusing free X Boxes for the kids (and bigger) useful when the weather is poor Food is ok, not great choice but average for the standard this hotel is Lovely rooms with fridge hobs etc Could improve Why oh why with the technology we have do we see CNN and Eurosport yet again as the only choices!!! These did not work anyway for most of the week i was there.................. Microwave in restaurant Overall Good standard 4 star could be sooo much better

The Hotel Blaumar is close to the marina end of the wide promenade which stretches the length of the Platja de Llevant. The other end closely resembles Benidorm with its Rovers Return, Shankleys Bar 'you'll never drink alone' along with many others and numerous amusement arcades. The hotel is clean with efficient staff. We were on B & B and we found the breakfast good. There was a selection of fresh fruit, cereals, types of bread, rolls and pastries, cold meats and cheeses and a selection of cooked items. Did not appear many Brits in the hotel with Dutch, Germans and Spanish being the majority. Was not a problem as staff were multi lingual. Used the Reus Airport bus from outside arrivals to Salou (10 euros return) which drops you at your hotel. Taxis in Salou show fare to Reus Airport at 31 euros. Unless travelling a lot car hire is to be avoided as car parking is at a premium. Public transport is easily accessible and regular. Bus stops within 200 metres to Tarragona, Reus,Cambrils and Barcelona and train station about 10 minutes walk to all of these except Reus and further afield. We would use this hotel again.

Just recently returned from a quick 5 nighter as a base for going to Port Aventura. Location excellent, on beach, which was fantastic for children, the widest promanade ever seen with climbing frames etc on the sand every 100 yards or so. Rooms a tight squeeze but cleaned to perfection every day. Entertainment good, mini disco every night 9.30 and games going on throughout the day with kids entertainers. It was not in the centre of town, which for us was brilliant as not noisy, but town 5-10 minute walk. Bus to Port Aventura 1.65 euros each way, but could be walked as only 45 minutes away. Highly recommended. We didnt book for food, and chose to buy from the supermarket for breakfast, but eat out for lunch and dinner. Small Kitchenette, but please bring a kettle as this is not provided, unless like us you are prepared to ladel hot water from a pan to make cups of tea/coffee.

16/04/08 Arrived Reus Airport to travel to Salou used the excellent Plana bus ? 9-50c return .airport/hotel/airport, Stayed in Blaumar hotel for 7 nights.The location of this hotel is excellent 50 m from beach with a pedestrian crossing directly out side.there is no need to use official tours as the buses in both directions to Tarragona Reus Cambrills Markets stop withih 50m of hotel.If you feel more adventurist the train station is a 6 min walk away Fare return to Barcellona ?10.get off at next station after Barca Sants you are i street away from LAS ramblas.The Hotel food was of a very high and acceptable standard.the rooms were adequate but need a coat of paint .Problem with clothes closet was fixed instantly.Staff very cheerful and helpful.Nightly entertainment ! which started at 22/30 was too late for toddlers and was Butlin like with same faces doing theme nights in Spanish/German/French;Show is on for 1 hour finishing promptly.Drink on pricey side compared to bars .Bar closes 12pm sharp no exceptions ; entertainment rating 3. Salou;its 6 years since my last visit still beautiful very clean and visitor friendly but the little Spanish shops were you could spend a few hours browsing have been taken over by Asian Traders as soon as you foot crosses their door way its what size are you you like Man U i make good price beware their team shirts are not official .The Liverpool Shirt has an orange tint to it .and remember the Spanish SIZES ARE ALL ON THE SMALL Size. I know these people have to make a living but the character has left the markets.Last thing on Hotel i looked at Travel Companies Reps Charts on display in hotel they were all German.French .Polish. Italian no British or Irish Companies seem to use this Hotel forgot to mention i was an Independent traveller who used Ryan air from Dublin
