The rooms were VERY small and cramped but clean and comfy. Staff could be a little stroppy but saying that, I would consider staying there again as it's ideally situated for Colloseum.

We had a pleasant 5 - night stay at this central hotel, polite and helpful staff, clean and tidy rooms spoiled a little by ongoing renovation works starting at 8am each day, not a problem in itself although it would have been good to have been pre-warned about this. Our superior room was fine if unspectacular, it did leave me wondering what exactly made it superior but this is a minor quibble. About a 10 minute walk to most main attractions in one direction, the same to the Termini station in the other, although take advantage of the private car hire service to take you to the airport on your way home, it can be booked at reception 24 hours in advance and at 50 Euros it's cheaper than a taxi and a lot more comfortable.

ROME
The Journey
We flew with Bmi from Birmingham to Championo the flight was on time and leg room was ok , from Championo we caught the Leonard express to Grande termini station (central Rome) from the airport station which is easily accessible from the luggage collection point down an escalated to the lower floor.
This direct service takes around 25 mins and runs every half an hour; tickets cost approx 11 euros each way, tickets can be purchased at machines on platforms or at the many ticket booths. The Train departs from plate form 2 (Best to ask at ticket booth , incase this has changed)
Remember to get your ticket stamped by one of the yellow ticket machines before boarding. We found this a very easy and cheap way to get into Rome the train wasn’t to busy and we managed to get a seat. We also used the train on our return to get back to the airport again no problems brought ticket at the station and arrived on time to catch the flight home.
Once at Grande Termini Station we had a short walk on foot to the Eurostars international Hotel, (exit the station and you will see a large area where the buses and taxi’s stop, to get to the hotel you need to walk directly past this area towards the Piazza Navona square and fountain the road Via Nazionale is just of this square, this is a busy main road with many shops, restaurants and bars, most major sites can be reached by foot although there is a very good bus service which is easy to use and stops outside the hotel (stop opposite hotel for Vatican area) – tickets can be brought at the many newsagent booths along the street.
The Hotel
The Eurostars has recently been renovated to a high standard of d?cor the reception area is very grande, the staff were friendly and helpful, the room was clean, quiet and the bed was comfy. (We did request a quiet room on a high floor – and that’s what we got!) Tea and coffee trays are available via reception just give them a bell and it will be delivered to your room (no charge)
We didn’t eat at the hotel so no comment there, defiantly recommend the caf? directly opposite the hotel they served good food, there was a happy hour every evening with a large variety of free nibbles, worth a visit!
Places of Interest
The main suggestion I would give any 1st timer to Rome would be on your 1st day take a red tour bus from Termini Station , you can travel all round the city getting on and off where every you wish (even if you decide not to get off the journey takes just over 2 hours) the ticket is valid all day and it costs around 12 – 15 euros, your provided with ear phones and have the option of listening to a interesting commentary, this bus is well worth the money and gives you a brilliant idea where all the sites are in relation to the hotel – if we had done this on our 1st day, instead of are last we wouldn’t have walked around searching for the Colossum for an 1 hour!
Another tip I would recommend is if possible choose to visit the Vatican museum on a Wednesday morning whilst the pope is conducting his weekly mass in St Peters Square he normal appears around 10.30, when we arrived (via bus caught from directly opposite the hotel, another option would be to do the red tour bus on this day as it stops directly outside) St Peters square was busy with hundreds of people, we went straight to the Vatican museum (around a 10 min walk from the square) and were able to walk straight in with no queuing! The Vatican museum is well worth a visit we are both in are twenties and found the whole experience really interesting.
On leaving the museum the queue was right back to the square with really long waiting times, we even got to see the pope finishing his mass!
Also I’d say if you’re planning to have lunch here, walk a little further into the city and save your self some money as the caf?’s restaurants right by the square were charging silly prices, for not very nice food.
Shopping
There is a nice selection of shops surrounding the hotel on the Via Nazionale, including shoes, clothing trinkets etc – There is also a Spar shop opposite the hotel – handy for a bottle!! There are more well know designer shops including Gap, Gucci, Zara etc in the surrounding streets of St Peters Square worth a look although the prices aren’t that cheaper to the UK.
Also the Grande Termini Station has a lower level of shopping, and a Food Hall which is also worth a look , the restaurants in the food hall serve dinner in the evening also.
Other Info
Rome isn’t over priced when it comes to eating out, you can get a 3 course meal for around 30 euros, all buses cost the same for any route 1 euro.
Take a good pair of walking shoes, especially as this hotel is so central to everything on foot.
The hotel reception were really helpful, ask them for tea and coffee and they will delivery it to your room (kettle, tea, milk etc which is free), they were also helpful when it came to bus info i.e. which bus number we needed etc
There is a Tourist Information booth 500 yards to the left, on the opposite side of the road to the hotel – which is handy for picking up free maps and other info
We didn’t experience any problems while in Rome, it’s generally a safe place
Obviously keep all purses/wallets in a safe place (not in back pockets) as there are pick pockets around especially at busy attractions like the Trevi Fountain (which is defiantly worth a visit!) There is a free mini safe in the room for passports etc.
Have a Good Trip!

My best friend and I stayed at the hotel for 4 nights in early March- she checked Trip Advisor and scoffed at my suggestions, this hotel was definitely out of my price range, but she convinced me that it was a four star and not some seedy little shack in some back street (her response to all my ideas!)- the only reason I gave in was because this was my first time going away!...
The thing that swayed me was the location- this hotel is CENTRAL to everything- and that's all I was really impressed by. I loved the fact that I could walk to the Colloseum in 10 minutes!
Some of the reception staff couldn't be any more helpful and others really couldn't care less!... the reception was always busy and I only ever saw the porter once.
The staff can speak English, some better than others!...When we realised we needed an adapter plug, we were told someone would bring one up- a bloke came up- I showed him the adapter I had, he looked at it and threw it on my bed and left the room- not saying a word.
We called reception and were told to come down at 8am the following day- the next day nobody knew what we were talking about- the reception staff did not seem to communicate to one another and every time we had an issue- it meant explaining everything all over again- very frustrating!! Yes- eventually we got the plug!!!
It's a no smoking hotel- so we ended up standing just outside the doors to smoke at night or sat on the bench just outside the hotel- either way; it didn't create a good impression!!
The room itself was okay- we got there and were presented with a double bed- we looked at each other and said "Hell no!"- the maid soon came and seperated the beds, but every morning she'd push them together again!?
The decor was very dated and there was virtually no light in the rooms- like those energy efficient bulbs- where you can barely see a thing- maybe it was the dark decor!?... Wasn't impressed at all by that!... My friends throw seemed to have a yellow stain on it and they never changed that the whole time we were there- they just changed the sheets...
Additionally, there was no heating and it was often freezing cold in the evenings- just freezing!!!!
In the mornings there was no hot water until about 8am- and at about 7-7.30am drilling and banging would commence- it was enough to wake up the dead!!!.... They were doing some building work somewhere in the hotel- the clanging and banging was enough to drive you insane!!...
Whilst I was there I couldn't dial out to make an international call- for the whole duration of my stay- I never once was able to call home!!!
Everything in the mini bar was crazily priced (as they are) a can of coke for 6 euro's- so we'd go accross the road and buy a can for 65 cents!!... Being pounds and pence kinda gals, even we realised the difference!!!
The bathroom was very modern and I have to give it that!... The people were generally friendly in the hotel, and out and about it wasn't too bad- apart from the moody cow in the de SPAR shop across the road, she had issues!!!... She was the unfriendliest person we met.
The maid who cleaned our room was really sweet!... but some of the other domestic staff were quite scary looking...
We never ate at the hotel- it was overpriced and was full of older people (Americans mostly!).
There was a coffee shop across the road- where the staff are so friendly!!... we literally spent every day in the coffee shop!... they are so nice, they all speak English (our Italian is non- existant!- even the little phrase book wasn't any help!).

Like most European 4 star hotels, it really isn't. I would say it is closer to a 3 star. The location was very convenient though. There are 2 distinct parts of this hotel, the older part and the newer part. The rooms in the newer part are nicer. I would not book an economy room because they were very tiny. The reception upgraded us to a superior room after we complained. Our room in the older section was okay, but the furniture was a bit cheap. We had an overabundance of closet space for some reason. The bath was not exceptional. The toilet was right by the sink and towel rack! The shower head kept falling down. We were lucky to get one small bar of soap a day along with a few tissues in one of those travel packs. The TV was cheesy and there was no clock in the room. We noticed that the carpet in the common hallways was a bit dirty. The breakfast buffet had a large selection, but the staff had a hard time keeping it stocked on the weekend. We were disappointed that the hotel business room was out of order all 5 nights we were there. So we had to find an internet point a few streets away. I will say that the staff was friendly and helped us by ordering taxis. Overall, an average hotel, not worthy of a 4 star rating.
