I have just returned from a 4 night stay at the PYR Apartments and i can honestly say that me and my 19 hens couldn't fault it.
I was a little bit nervous when we booked as i had read all of the other reviews on here and other websites but we all thought that we couldn't have chosen better accomodation.
My only complaint would be that check-in is very slow. It took about 40 minutes to get us all checked in which was a bit of a ball ache when you want to get straight round the pool.
The bar prices were very reasonable. We were paying 2 Euros per pint of lager at the pool bar and they have a great snack menu which included toasties, sandwiches, etc. These all were priced at about 4 to 7 euros and were served with fries. Gorgeous!
The rooms were very clean and spacious. A little dated but the maid was in every day to change the towels and make the beds. The bathroom was great as we had 3 girls to a room, so getting ready at night was made so much easier.
The pool was lovely. There is a very large adult pool and a large baby pool which we spent most of our time in. Plenty of sunlounges which were padded and really comfortable. I would advise getting down to the pool at about 9:30am to make sure you get beds together if you are in a large group.
We had breakfast out every morning and only realised on the last morning that the hotel had a buffet breakfast for 9 euro's. We ate at several back street bars for breakfast and got charged around 13 euro's each time.
Location of this hotel is perfect if you will be spending most of your time at the beach and on the marina. It is only about a 5 minute walk and is very safe when walking back and forth.
Nightlife in Puerto Banus is amazing. It was my hen party and we were so looked after by all of the bars and restaurants. If you are looking for a nice, cheap meal on the harbour front you have got to try 'Picasso's'. Don't be put off by the long que as they will have you seated within 10 minutes. Pizza's costs about 10 euros and pasta dishes cost around 10 euros too.
You have got to go to O'Gradys Irish Bar as the staff in there are fab. Dave the Host and Kelly made us feel so welcome and really looked after us.
This was my first time to Puerto Banus and i will definately be returning. I will definately be going back to the PYR Apartments too.

I have just returned home after my hen night in Puerto Banus, having stayed at the Pyr several times, I was surprised at the change!
On arrival we stood for over 30 minutes waiting to check-in. The staff were not what you would call helpful! There were 2 check-in staff, but instead of dealing with one group of people each, they helped each other with every guest, which mean't one thing - a long wait.
The rooms are big and clean, exactly what you would expect for the price. We did however have a cockroach in one of our rooms which was horrible.
The hotel was full of hen and stag parties and was very noisey, especially in the early evening and then late at night (3am to 5am) when people were coming in after a night out. We did witness a fight at the pool, between two guys, this was dealt with by the hotel staff eventually! My room was next to the stairs which is a bit of an issue if you are a light sleeper, ask to be moved to nearer the front of the hotel (the opposite side from the motorway). We couldn't really complain about the noise from the motorway, which we could hear, but was not too loud.
During our stay the temperature got up to an amazing 30, but the air con. was not switched on so it could get a bit hot in the rooms. The pool was also freezing.
The security staff were awful, and did not make us feel safe, but rather the opposite. The rest of the staff were rude, the only decent friendly member of staff was the pool guy!
I would never take kids to this hotel, as it was a 'club 18 - 30 style hotel' for the over 30's!
Having said that we did have a great time, and the location is brilliant 5 mins max. to the front.
The location of the Pyr would be the only reason I would ever return.

My partner and I stayed at the Hotel Pyr 3 years ago and were very impressed so booked again without a thought. However when I was saw the negative comments previously recorded just before we went I was very worried that the Hotel would not live up to previous expectations.
I am please to say that my worries were unfounded and the hotel was as good as we remenbered it. I agree totally with the previous review that the rooms are a bit dated but they are clean and spacious and there is a roomy fridge for keeping your drinks cool and as prices in Puerto Banus are not cheap this is great news!
The breakfast is excellent with plenty of choice and the staff are friendly and helpful.
This is a very reasonabley priced hotel in a fabulous location, you get what you pay for - its not 5 star but youre not paying 5 star prices. Its a fantastic hotel in a beautiful resort and we fully intend to return to the Pyr again very soon.

This hotel is grat value for money espcially as though the location is fabulous if u want to live a bit of the Puerto Banus high life.Hotel is close to beach, shops and the marina. I stayed there for a weekend and found the reception staff to be very helpful. The room was very large and clean. I would stay there again.

On entering the hotel it looks very clean and comfortable but when you enter the rooms it's a different story. They are really basic and the bathrooms are small. We are in our late twenty's and early thirties and where there on a hen's week . We enjoyed the location but that was all. the pool area was great but not a place to bring children due to some of the more seedy antic's some guests got up to( and I'm no prude) but it was rude and insulting to us plus other guests. The staff never smiled expect one man on reception who's name I have forgotten. Customer service skills training would go a long way here. The security staff asked us to be quiet at 9.30pm in the evening in the main bar even though there were about 50 people in bar they wanted us all to be quiet, I've never heard of a bar, hotel bar or not, take a lot of money from guests but tell them they can o0nly drink quietly before. This is suppose to be the best party location around. On a few ocassions we noticed women coming and going through the lobby area with different men, on leaving the hotel they gave money to both the reception staff and the security staff to turn a blind eye. Do I need to point out who these women where. If you're looking for somewhere cheap, rough and centrally located this is the place for you otherwise stay away
