Throwback to the 1970s

The good thing about this hotel was its close location to the city centre - just a couple of minutes walk to the pedestrianised historic core, and its free parking. The bad thing was its ghastly 1970s decor in public areas and bedrooms; the cheap toiletries in the bathroom and lack of airconditioning on a hot early summer night (noisy if you opened to windows); the mediocre breakfast with powdered fruit juice mix; and the fact that there was not free internet access for residents. Disappointing and uncomfortable.

We harvested olives on a 14th century farm
Guest name: hallieb, Gilroy, California
My husband and I stayed here while visiting our daughter, and her friends who live in Marostica. The hotel is quite comfortable and within walking distance to the old town area of Vicenza, which is fabulous for shopping and people watching. There is also a supermarket just up the street from the hotel where you can get last minute food items and gifts for friends back home. The room was very euro feeling and had a view of the boulevard, tho we made the mistake of closing the metal blinds outside the window one night and way overslept the next day. We recommend not fooling with the blinds, as they do a great job of keeping the light out, and you may lose a day! The staff is very accomodating and the breakfast was delicious, simple euro style (cafe, roll, etc.) tho there were lots of Germans there at the time and the hotel added cold cuts and other items that we enjoyed but apparently are not normally included. The breakfast lady made us cappucinos, 2 a piece, each morning; nothing is better than Italian coffee. We spent some time helping our friends with their olive harvest in the hills of Marostica, and brought back a bottle of the tastiest oil...you can buy similar oil in the markets there. There was also a chocolate festival in Vicenza while we were there, heaven for a chocoholic like me! All in all, we loved staying at the Due Mori and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone coming to Vicenza.

The location of this hotel is excellent. Right at the entrance to the centro storico and minutes walking to both bus and train stations. Although I wasn't driving there seemed to be several parking spaces in front of the hotel. I was in a single (301) which was adequate in size with a nice bath. The back of the hotel, however is very noisy. There's some type of a small warehouse and the noise starts about 7 AM. The staff were uniformly friendly and helpful. The breakfast was not great. It seemed to be supermarket quality baked goods, rather than the usual fare from a local bake shop.
