The location is terrific. 2 minute walk to San Marco and Rialto Bridge. Great value for money - we paid an average of $330 a night with breakfast, which was substantial. The staff is not very helpful, they sort of have an attitude. The rooms are on the small side but comfortable. The beds are very comfortable although small. Would recommend it highly.

A shock when we walked into the room for the 1st tme. We stayed in a superior twin, overlooking the canal. The room was quite small, nothing like the pictures claimed. Also a little poorly decorated, hospital pink walls, small rugs and just lack of real quality. Bathroom however was nice as was the housekeeping, which kept the room feeling like we were getting a decent service for what we were paying. On the whole a dissapointing room, which offered a fine service. Take a look in a guide book before you go, and don't necesarily stay in San Marco (centre) as its packed with tourists, and its easy to walk from the other districts.

I'd booked this "boutique" hotel for a surprise romantic weekend away with my boyfriend.
We arrived a day late due to issues with flights leaving Heathrow the night before and with the airline, KLM, but I notified the hotel to inform them of this.
On arrival at the hotel the next day we were shown to a dinghy, dark, substandard room right at the top and back of the hotel. I complained and said that this was not what I had booked: the staff were surly and slow to respond. When they did they showed us to a very cramped double room which was still poorer quality than I'd expected on booking, but they claimed that they didn't have any others available.
The following morning we ordered breakfast on room service: it took them an hour to bring it up and when they did the food was cold and congealed. We'd already given up this hotel as a bad lot and decided that it wasn't such a problem as we had all of Venice to explore.
I would NEVER recommend staying at this hotel. It's overpriced, offers appalling service, tries to palm off rooms that you'd see in a poor Indian hostel as one that it expects you to pay the going rate for a four star hotel and the overall service and attitude is dire. DON'T book it.

This is a great find for anyone seeking a centrally located Venetian hotel. Our room was modern, tastefully decorated & spacious for Venice standards. Loved the bathroom. You get what you pay for, so upgrade to the Superior or Deluxe room category. The staff were friendly & attentive. This was my 2nd visit to Venice. Last time I stayed at the Hotel Kette. Both are lovely, yet I do favour Hotel Bonvecchiati for it's space & modern feel.
