The Hotel was great, it was all you could want for sightseeing. You would not want to spend hours in the hotel but great for if you wanted somewhere comfy. That said, the beds were a bit hard, but after a night you became accustomed. Another member of our party, in another room, had trouble with noisy aircon (room 25) and was then moved to a room which had an irritatingly bright light (room 37) but room 27 was fine, with excellent aircon, which was not too noisy. The location was perfect, few minutes walk to the Vatican and 10 to central Rome yet the area was almost silent at night. There is a great little trattoria, if you leave the Hotel, turn left and continue to the end of Boezio. Turn left, the first restaurant on the left hand side of the road. Its great serving excellent Pasta and Pizza but try and go in the week when the normal waitress is on as at the weekend the son of the owner serves and is not as good. Expect €40 for 4 mains some salad and a starter. For pudding go left away from Boezio, and straight. You will hit a sort of café stroke gelatia where you should buy ice cream and head down the road. You will be walking down a side street and then you will emerge in the Vatican as if by mistake. From about eight till half past it is almost deserted before the night tours of Rome arrive.

I booked a short stay at this hotel only too aware of the mixed reviews on this site. However , I got a great price with BA and the fact that it had a nice-looking roof terrace.
On arrival I was shown into a wardrobe like space that turned out to be a bedroom ! I could touch each wall by standing in the middle of the room, it was steaming hot and faced the street. said to the manager who showed me in that it was incedibly small but he shrugged and said that this is a standard single. That night was awful , the bed was miniscule and rock hard and the one pillow provided was about 5 mm thick. I weigh about 120 lbs so I dread to think how anybody larger could have fitted into that bed. The wallpaper was navy stiped which really added to the cell like feel.
The following morning , I complained and another desk clerk said , Oh do you want to change rooms ? The next room was heaps better and after that things were fine. However , the first night there were just 4 other guests in the entire hotel , so it was very mean minded to use this tiny room when so many others were available.
Th good points were a great roof terrace , excellent location and a decent breakfast. All are only any use if you actually get some sleep the night before.
But , beware on those tiny single rooms that really are only suitable if you are aged below 5 years or are not fussed about sleeping.

After reading some of the reviews, I was quite apprehensive about this hotel. What an incredible surprise. Our room was beautiful, not huge, but this is Europe, not North America. Our room was beautifully decorated with brocade walls. The hotel itself was very clean, our room was very clean, the bathroom was very clean, we had a shower door! One of the men behind the desk was not overly friendly but basically all the staff was fine. We had to leave our passports temporarily. This is because the hotel is required to register all guests with the police. We got our passports back within the hour.
I would rate this hotel above the 3-star rating that it has. One must remember that one is in Europe and that our North American standards are different than European ones.

This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in (no exaggeration).
Although the location was fair, the room was depressing and smaller than one you would find on a cruise ship. It felt like we were staying in a badly decorated closet. The bathroom was dirty and the shower was inoperable. The front desk staff were very rude, in fact I witnessed one of them actually yell at a guest on two diferent occasions (and I only stayed one night!) This was classified as a 3 star hotel, however it's really more like a 1 star. This place makes Super 8 look like the Savoy. Avoid at all costs!

After reading the reviews I was scared to death about my Priceline booking at Arcangelo.
Breakfast- No ants on the food. It was a great breakfast. Good meats and cheeses. The coffee was very European (dark, bitter, strong). No complaints.
Rooms- Comfortable beds. The shower is too small with no shower curtain. That was a problem. The rooms were decorated nicely, but we were never really there. Quiet street, an oasis from the city noise.
Staff- 4 different men manned the front desk. 3 were really nice, the morning attendant wasn't too friendly. But they were all very helpful for directions, taxis, train info. They even let me use their internet connection to check my email.
I paid $200 a night and consider that a great deal. Close to the vatican, a short walk from the piazzas. Great hotel.
