A friend and myself stayed here for 3 days and 4 nights and found the hotel to be above average. We had rented a car and used the hotel parking area in the main shopping center car park. This cost an extra 10 euros per night.
The hotel is a 15 minute drive from the airport and easy enough to find with a map of the area. The reception staff were friendly and well-informed and seemed happy to help with whatever they could. As mentioned in other reviews the hotel is strangely located in a shopping centre with the lobby next to one of the main entrances to the centre. The centre itself had some nice little cafes and shops including a massive supermarket, cinema complex, clothes shops like Zara and the usual assortment of shops you'd expect to find in a large metropolitan mall.
The location of the hotel was a good 20 minute walk from the centre. Although not an unpleasant walk, it can get tiring if you want to return to your hotel during the day and then go back to the centre of town. There is a regular bus service although it can be erratic.
The room was comfortable although it did smell as if the last person to occupy it had smoked in it. The smell was easily dispensed of as we had a large window overlooking the outside of the building that we could open to get some fresh air in. When you check in to this hotel I would definitely ask for a room that overlooks the outside of the mall and not the inside. The rooms were cleaned well each day and towels and linen were always fresh.
Checkout was uncomplicated and painless.

I stayed two nights in this weird hotel but it was very comfortable. As other people said you are in a mall so you have plenty of shops and bars and restaurants. Garage for your car is at underground level and the staff gives you a special key for the elevator....but you have to pay about 8 euros per night.
My room was clean , with a/c , tv , but a litlle small even for a single use. I would definitely come back again.

I stayed at Area Central back in March for four nights and found the hotel to be a nice little gem.
Although it is strangely located within a shopping center complex, this worked out as an advantage given the number of shops available (especially the supermarket - to budget traveler, you can opt out of the hotel's breakfast and easily sort your own breakfast out this way).
In terms of distance from the city center, I would say it was a gentle 15 minute walk, whilst the coach station (to the airport, Lugo etc) was an easy 5 minutes away. Only the train station is located quite a distance away - either take the bus or walk via the city center.
The room itself was very comfortable, bed was nice and soft, good pillows and fairly spacious. The bathroom was good too, large with tub and shower.
My only gripe would be with the television; if they make the room this size, at least have a television of a decent size. In addition, was unlucky one day in that when turning the bath tap on, muddy water started spurting out, but that stopped after a while.
