This is an exterior entrance type motel and our room was on the second floor. It was conveniently located near the expressway but we did not have any problems with noise, etc.
The checkin staff was pleasant but a bit overwhelmed. Only one person was on duty. Our room did not have any TP so we called down twice, then ended up having to go down and pick it up ourselves. With that exception, our 3 night stay was pleasant. The pool and surrounding area was impressive and enjoyable. The fitness center was unusable (old equipment, mostly broken).
The room itself was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was also quite good. We received a rate of about $55/night for 2 doubles and I felt that overall, it was a good value and would stay there again.

Spent 1 night here on way back from North Carolina. The location was great, right off of the highway. Also the room and bathroom were big, but it was very dirty and smelled in the hallway. Right across the hall were smoking rooms. Why wouldn't they have all non-smoking rooms on the same floor?! The staircase also smelled. If I was in the area again I would pick a different hotel.

I was very happy with this hotel. The staff was very friendly and check-in was easy. There was plenty of parking. We were there for a conference near another hotel, so although it isn't very close to downtown Norfolk, it was near where I needed to be. And not a long drive downtown, either.
It's in a retail area, on a busy highway-like road, very close to all major arteries. The courtyard of the hotel looked nice, although we didn't get a chance to check out the pool area, or eat the continental breakfast.
The beds were nice and firm and the room was spacious. Refrigerator was great, although a microwave would have been nice. Bathroom was roomy enough for 2 people to use at once. It wasn't fancy, but clean.
Highly recommend if you are looking for a bargain.

If you are looking for an economical hotel that caters to its guests - this is the one for you! This was the first time my husband and I stayed at this hotel. We went to Norfolk to visit my son and his family. Don't believe the older reviews written about this hotel. We found our room to be clean and well lit with a bath that offered endless hot water (ask for a second floor courtyard side room - nice view of pools and grounds). The indoor pool was just a short walk from our room (located in another building). The pool was warm and the hot tub was very relaxing. The water in both pool and hot tub is very clean. The complimentary breakfast was delicious: choice of three cereals, grits, oatmeal, bagels, muffins, toast, yogurts, fresh fruit bowl, cinnamon buns, coffee, tea, juices. The hotel lobby was beautifully decorated for the holidays. We were told that this hotel was under new management that is making improvements - and it shows! All of the employees were very amiable and helpful. The location of this hotel is very convenient to numerous restaurants, stores, malls and the Interstate. My husband and I enjoyed our experience so much that we are planning to return right after the New Year. We are also looking forward to staying during the summer when the outdoor Olympic sized pool is open. Great job, America's Best!
