I stayed in this hotel for 4 nights because I had to partecipate to a congress in Venice. If you're on a budget, sleeping in Mestre is a good solution to visit Venice; hotel Piave is 5 minutes walk from the train station, so its position is excellent. Surroundings are quiet and you can easily find some good restaurant; there's also a bakery if you want to buy something for breakfast (I hate to have breakfast in the hotel, so I can't review it). My room had a double bed, a TV, an air conditioner with its own remote control, a wardrobe and a (very) small bathroom. Hotel's people were very kind and let me leave my baggage at the hotel on my last day there: nothing to complain about. Though I didn't spend any time in it, the reception room seemed to me very nice and cozy. Overall, a three star hotel (more on the two star side, to be sincere) that could be an execellent base for visiting Venice and also other touristic places on the mainland at a very good price (I payed ? 50 per night for my single, booking on www.venere.com, but breakfast was excluded).

The only advantage of staying at Piave, is its Very close to the metro. We had booked a double room, and was offered a very small room with no airconditioning. There was a lot of disturbance from the adjacent rooms all through the night. Being inside the room, we could hear, if anyone was walking by the room or using the lifts. The continental complimentary breakfast included only tea, coffee and cornflakes. No fresh bread or hot milk. However, we were told by paying additional euros our breakfast could be upgraded.

Very good position, small rooms but confortable.

My wife and I stayed here for a valentines break in Feb 2008. Having read some of the trip advisor reviews we were a bit worried about what the rooms would be like. We were pleasantly surprised about the size, but the bathroom was tiny and the hotel had a dusty feel and musty smell. The staff were not that friendly either. Breakfast was ok for 5 euros, nothing special, but had a huge variety of cold foods. Didn't like the area at night time and definitely wouldn't stay there again.

The Hotel Piave was an ok hotel. The breakfast buffet was nice, rooms were clean. There was a large group of teenagers staying at the hotel at the same time that were totally out of control at night. They ran up and down the halls screaming and yelling. When we called the desk in the middle of the night to complain, no one answered. The reception clerks were very indifferent to our questions about touring Venice and were not very helpful at all with bus & train passes. They were not friendly or customer service orientated. The refrigerator (minibar) did not work. Hotel staff said that the internet was not functioning. The location of the hotel is in a quiet neighborhoos and only a sort 5-10 minute bus/ train ride from Venice. The bus stop is 2 blocks away and the train station is only 3 blocks away. Very convenient.
