My sister and I have just come back from a 3 night stay at the Hotel Regente. The best thing about the hotel was the location. It is right off the Gran Via and very close to a metro stop – we however walked everywhere and most places of interest were accessible if you don’t mind the walk.
We had a twin room that even though was small was cleaned and tidied every day. The beds were comfortable and the room was of the right temperature without having to use the aircon.
Like many other reviews I have read of the hotel the only real complaint would be the noise levels. I can sleep through most things but had to purchase some ear plugs (tapones in Spanish if you are reading this and want to buy some out there!). The walls are paper thin so you can hear people next door. Our room was opposite the lift so we could also hear people pulling suitcases and coming to bed etc etc. We were happy to get up and get going but after about 8am you have little chance of uninterrupted sleep. The area directly outside the hotel is also quite noisy but I think you would get that whoever you stayed in Madrid,
Breakfast was included with our room rate and was off a very good standard but was the same every day.
Overall a decent hotel that was spotlessly clean, tidy and in a great location making it fantastic value for money as well.

The best thing about this hotel is its location, right off Gran Via, between Gran Via and Callao metro stops (Callao is closer) - either way two transfers from the airport. The location of the hotel is perfect is you like to party. There are plenty of bars and discos nearby and the Chueca district is only 5 mins away. There are also a lot of great stores nearby.
Stayed 5 nights. We had a 'double' room which had two twin beds pushed together. They were pretty comfortable, but short, so my feet were hanging off the end of the bed (and I'm only 5'11)! The room itself was a good size and clean.
I guess my only real complaint is that the walls were pretty thin and you could hear a lot of noise from slamming doors and furniture being dragged on parquet floors in the morning. I honestly think the maids were doing it on purpose to make sure all rooms were vacated and cleaned by noon!! It was quite annoying. So if you like to sleep in in the morning, I'd find a different hotel.
Breakfast was included with our room rate. Typical hotel breakfast: scrambled eggs, bacon, beans, some cereals, yogurts, breads and pastries, orange or pineapple juices, coffee, tea. The selection wasn't bad, but it was the exact same thing every morning.
Overall, a good hotel in a GREAT location. But I probably wouldn't stay there again.

5 of us have just come back from a 2 night stay at the Regente Hotel where we were staying in 2 rooms (both had two twin beds pushed together and an extra sofa bed)
This hotel was in a good location just off Gran Via, 2 mins from the metro and just a few minutes walk to Sol. We arrived to check in at midday and even though early we were shown to our room straight away. The staff on the desk were helpful and helped us with various queries we had. Rooms were clean and breakfast decent enough and with the added bonus of it being served till 10.30am which is ideal following a late night!
Having read previous comments about the noise I was expecting to hear the hustle and bustle of the city but we were put in the inner rooms where there was not a hint of outside noise . Although the walls were really thin so there was noise from other rooms which could be quite annoying.
Only other negative comments is the rooms weren't clean by the maid during our stay.
All in a decent hotel. Not luxury but clean and tidy place in a goodlocation and good value for money.

A good value at less than EU 100, located right in the heart of Madrid. Room was clean, but small and very noisy at night. Window was right next to a major street, Gran Via, which was hopping with loud voices and ambulances half the night. Great view from the balcony, though. Would recommend internal room, if you are sensitive to loud noise. Hotel staff was friendly and professional. Were willing to book Flamenco reservations for us at a small lesser known venue, that took some time for them to look up. Good house keeping service. Close to all kinds of restaurants and coffee/pastry shops. Hotel breakfast buffet looked good, but didn't try.
