The Swarzer Adler was very nice. The location was great for both business and pleasure, our room was spacious and nicely furnished and we enjoyed a fabulous bathroom. We really enjoyed the breakfast each morning and the staff couldn't have been nicer from the moment we checked in until we left. The bar is small and smokey at times, but since the weather was nice, we enjoyed our outside cocktails. The only objection was the nightlife noise from the nearby bars. But we will definitely stay here again when we get back to Innsbruck.

We booked the Schwarzer Adler given the great reviews we'd read on Trip Advisor but were sadly disappointed and would not recommend it.
When we arrived we were greeted warmly but hurriedly by the receptionist who never put down her mobile phone, even while showing us to our room. The lift was not working so we all walked up to the third floor --- no problem for us. The room was clean although the furnishings were dated. The bathroom was pleasantly good sized and very bright. The bed was quite hard and uncomfortable and the air conditioner did not work, quite unfortunate given the warm summer weather. We ended up sleeping with our windows open which was a problem due to cigarette smoke from the outside terrace.
We had a lovely dinner in the restaurant downstairs. The food, traditional Tyrolean fare, was well prepared and delicious. The serving staff was attentive and our waitress even shared a recipe with us from the chef.
The real problems started in the evening. There were a number of drunk and unruly guests staying at the hotel after a football match, pounding on doors and yelling until all hours. We discovered (as did another reviewer) just how thin the walls are at this hotel. We were unable to sleep and were very unhappy the management did nothing (by their admission) to try to restrain the out-of-control guests. We brought it up to them twice, and hoped for a credit to our bill, but because we had prepaid they insisted it would be impossible to make any adjustments.
The location is within a 10 minute walk to the train station, which is a plus, but there are many other fine hotels to choose from that are just as accessible.

After reading the many positive reviews I was expecting a real treat. While the room (303)was nothing special ( small with no great view- just the building and a large crane on the opposite side of the street- or style) i put this down to us having just a standard room and you only get what you pay for.
However we thought we would treat ourselves to having a meal at the hotel as the menu looked good, and it would make up for the room. as well as it being an occasion in a great location.
We were delighted that when we booked in the mornig the receptionist offered us a table at 8pm on the roof terrace; however when we got there it was still not cleared away from lunch. When we went to the lower floor resturant we were told they had no booking for us, the resturant was full with the conference occupying the hotel but were offered a table outside- by a busy road, in the smokers' restaurant, or in the empty back room.
Reluctantly we accepted the samll, souless, hot back-room where we were on our own all evening- the only ambience created by the conference guys passing on their way to the toilet! We opted for the set menu but while the food might have been good if the service could have supported it, we seemed to get our 4 courses only when the kitchen was not busy servicing the conference. The first course did not arrive for a whole hour and other courses arrived with evidence of having been kept hot for a long time.
Our waitress worked hard to make-up for our conern but we saw no sign of a manager/maitre de to speak to, or apologise for the lost booking.
Later that evening we realised our poor little room had AC that was totally inadequate - and had a sleepless night.
The next day we spoke to the receptionist about our concerns and she brought the restaurant manager (Mr Schlotz)to us. He offered us words, including " this should not have happened (sic)' but still let us pay ?102 without any gesture of compensation.
i really didn't get this place - if it was grand- I failed to see it . Perhaps if I had been part of the conference in one of the more expensive rooms, and less like a poor relation..
Service was poor at the time and inadequate at dealing with a complaint. You can cope with the (occasional) former if you have the latter, but this place had neither.
Stay here if you can afford one of the better rooms- it's in a good location- and eat elsewhere.

We stayed here for one night & wished we had stayed longer. It's a small hotel, family run, all the rooms are different & ours wasn't very big but they're furnished to a very high standard with antiques & 4 poster beds.
We don't usually eat in hotel restaurants but decided to eat at the Adler as we liked the menu. We weren't disappointed the food was excellent & I'm sure we wouldn't have eaten better anywhere else.
The only problem we had was in the bar. I asked for a Martini cocktail & the barman who I understand is the son of the owner said that it was a problem as this cocktail wasn't programmed on the computer, I asked him if he was serious & he said he was but would work something out. The Martini came & was pretty terrible as it only tasted of Martini & no Gin the next day when we checked out we saw that he had resolved the problem by charging for a portion of Dry Martini & a portion of Gin, I wouldn't have minded the charge but he absolutely killed the Cocktail with too much Martini. Anyway this won't stop us from staying here again on our next visit to Innsbruck.

I wanted to write this review as we think the Romantik Hotel Schwarzer Adler should be top of the list of hotels in Innsbruck. We have stayed in a few of the hotels in Innsbruck, and after deciding to hold our wedding in Innsbruck, the Schwarzer Adler was definitely our top choice. And it did not dissapoint! We want to thank the hotel and all the staff for their effort and help throughout the whole week. I know that all our family who also stayed at the hotel absolutely loved it! We would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants great service, fantastic rooms and amazing food during their stay in Innsbruck! Thanks once again for the most wonderful week of our life!
