This hotel in a wonderful location for all the sights in Verona. Shopping, Arena etc.. just minutes away. It is over a McDonalds but we did not find this impinged on our stay in any way. The rooms are basic but comfortable and clean. Ours had a mini bar, sattelite TV with two English language stations (CNN and BBC 24 News), safe, phone etc... no tea or coffee making items. Many of the front rooms have balconies. When we arrived we were told our room would be in the "annex" which turned out to be up a small street about 200 yds away. We found that this room was opposite a building works and the noise was deafening. We were quickly moved back to a room in the main hotel on complaining. If I returned again I would definitely want a room in the main hotel it is much more convenient. The breakfast buffet was excellent. The staff were very helpful and polite.

This hotel was a very nice hotel...decent price, good sized room. The breakfast was above what I would expect. The hotel is a good location (about a 15 minute walk from the train station) which was great. From the hotel, you could walk anywhere. The hotel was crowded with a group of kids, so that was a bit noisy. Also, the rooms faced an alley which was noisy or the front main street. However, we just turned the fan on to drown out the noise. We also noticed that the wood floors carried a lot of noise from the halls into the room. But, we did like this location and the hotel. Felt it was well worth a visit and would definitely return.

Hotel Mastino's location is it's advantage. It's a 15 minute walk to the train station and a 3 minute walk to the Arena. The rooms are basic and clean and the breakfast is very good. I reserved 9 rooms way in advance but the rooms were assigned as people checked in. I had asked for quiet rooms. Some people got rooms on the street side which were a bit loud. One person got a room next to the breakfast room which was very noisy. She was able to change rooms the next day. My room was very quiet because it faced an innercourt. McDonald's did not pose a noise problem. Because we did many day trips and used the train station frequently, we enjoyed walking to the train station. The heart of Verona is Piazza della Erbe and not Piazza Bra, so keep this in mind when booking a hotel. Chris, the bookkeeper, speaks English perfectly.

we stayed at the Mastino for 3 nights in mid May . The hotel has three stars and is one of the best of that rating we have stayed in . Excellent position for exploring Verona , very clean and quiet , friendly and helpfull staff and a great continental breakfast . There is a Macdonalds underneath the hotel but it made no impact on our stay at all and we were above it , it was less noisy than if a bar was positioned there . Overall I would recommend staying here , its not a 4 star but a very good 3 star and well worth the money .

We stayed at the apartmnet and not at the hotel. The apartmanet is in a very nice location in Verona's old city (few minutes walk to the Arena). The decore of the apartmant is amazing - very elegant. Everything is new and clean. Most recomended!!
