After arriving at the rail station, we took the water bus to St. Marks. We had a little difficulty actually finding the hotel the first time, because it has no big sign, but once we did we went into an old building that was TOTALLY modernized and quite lovely. Our room was a triple and it was actually a big bathroom, a room with a single bed connected to a room with a double. We had a lot of space. Decorations were good and the room and bathroom very clean. The breakfast in the morning was good - cereals, juice, bread, cheese etc. The hotel is VERY close to both St. Marks and the Rialto, but it is on a quiet street, right by a gondola stop. I really liked the position as it was easy to go back for a nap and then out to a restaurant in the evening. Venice was cool while we were there, but the room was lovely and warm. Nice hotel and having two rooms for a triple was great.

This place is like a boutique hotel. There is no bar here, the breakfast in the morning is typical European. The rooms are very clean and the staff is very accommodating. If you are going to Venice this is the place to stay. I have been to Venice 3 times and if I ever went back I would stay here. The price is moderate and you get everything that a expensive place has to offer, except a more personal service because of the size. If you go out of hotel and take a right over the bridge and then your first left about 1/2 block down is a grocer and you can pick up some good inexpensive wine and enjoy a glass in the sitting area of the hotel which are party did every night. There were 7 of us with 4 rooms and not one person had a complaint. You can catch the water taxi right out the door by the bridge. There are several restaurants around hotel 2 right across the street (pizzeria), which are great. San Marks Square is a 2 minute walk (if that) and the Rialto Bridge is 5 minute walk.

This hotel was great. When we arrived on the train and caught a water bus, it seemed like forever away, but when we got there, this was a hotel right in the heart of Venice. St. Mark's square was two streets away. The hotel staff were most polite and helpful and really attended to our every need. The room was very clean and modern, air conditioned and the bathroom was nice and new. Couldn't fault this place and by far probably the best one we stayed in on our trip. We would definitely stay again. I can only hope we get to visit Venice again one day.

What I love about this hotel is that it is situated in a fabulous location. To get to the hotel itself, you have to wind down little street alleys - which you discover along the way and it adds to the holiday atmosphere. Being so close to St Mark's Square was a bonus given that the Campanile, Orological Clock Tower, Correr Museum, Doges Palace and the Basilica are all situated around the square. Also, a nice quick stroll down to nearby Rialto Bridge for some food was convenient. Overall, a neat little find in Venice!

After reading reviews I contacted the hotel to book direct. They do not have a secure booking area and I had to telephone to give them credit card details but as they had a good command of English this wasn't a problem. We caught the Alilaguna vaporetto for 12 Euros pp from the airport which is a wonderful way to start any visit to Venice. A water taxi would cost you about 7 times more. I recommend you do some research of where the hotel is situated before you go as it makes walking through the streets of Venice with a suitcase a little easier. It is possible to reach the hotel from St. Marks Square vaporetto stops without having to go over any bridges. The hotel is comfortable and security is good as there is someone on reception 24 hours and the only way in is via an intercom entrance. We paid 1000Euros for a 4 night stay in a 'superior' double room including breakfast which was more than adequate. Our room overlooked the small canal at the side of the hotel and although not an attractive view it was nice to see and hear the boats and gondolas going past. There were one or two noisy early mornings whilst the Venetians went about their work delivering goods or collecting rubbish but it added to the atmosphere. The hotel is in an excellent position for walking around Venice and for getting to the Basilica and Doges Palace early. There are many good restaurants nearby and I would recommend you walk away from St. Marks Square for good value. A personal favourite was Restaurant Al Peoceto Risorto in the Rialto and by the mercato del pesce (fish market). When visiting the Basilica take the stairway to the right just as you go in the entrance. It costs 3 Euros to go in but well worth it as it includes going on to the balcony with a view over St. Marks Square and gives you a better view of the mosaics on the ceiling. All in all a very enjoyable experience.
