Friendliest Service Ever

We travel a lot and have stayed at some of the best hotels including several Ritzs but the Madison continually has the best and FRIENDLIEST service we have ever experienced not to mention a beautiful metropolitan styled facility with ONLY EIGHT rooms to a floor, all of different shapes. It is close to everything you want to visit in Memphis at night and has an excellent restaurant. The roof-top experience is second to none--gorgeous view of the Mississippi River and bridge. And if you want to exercise or swim, there is a wonderful (boutique size) exercise room and lap pool down in the basement within the remainder of an old bank vault (a must see even if you do not use it). My husband loved that. (He IS and old banker!)
We stay at the Maidson each time we travel to Memphis.

Stayed at the Madison on business trips 4 times in 2007 and 2008. The service at this hotel is as good or better than any hotel I can remember. Large, clean rooms and comfortable beds await exhausted travelers. Sunsets with a cigar and beverage on the roof- top terrace cap off a busy day. Within walking distance of good restaurants and of course, world famous Beale Street.

Yes, this is a very hip hotel...at least the lobby and common areas. On the plus side, the staff is very friendly and accommodating and the room was very spacious and comfortable. The Fitness Room was not open when we were there...and no one at the hotel knew that until I went to use it, went downstairs and lo and behold it was closed...when I went to the front desk, the response was ...Oh I guess we had a flood and it is being repaired...Why didn't they disclose that when we arrived. They did give me a pass to the "muscle" man gym directly across the street which I would not recommend using.
The bathroom was large but very dark...lacked a makeup mirror, no bath mat and it was extremely difficult to get in and out of the tub to take a shower. Also, very noisy A/C units. You are a few blocks away from the main part of town....but not too bad although the neighborhood seemed a bit seedy late at night.
And no one knew how to get anywhere and when things were opened and closed. Make sure you come with a very good map that clearly lays out one-way street. On 2 occasions we got directions to turn the wrong way on one-way streets...how bizarre!!! Nice hotel but not up to the quality of a Small Luxury Hotel property. Memphis, though, is a great town to visit.

Madison Hotel - a downtown Memphis favorite!
Guest name: Businesstraveler81, Memphis, TN
The Madison Hotel was a wonderful place to spend our wedding night! It's a very hip boutique hotel in the middle of downtown Memphis.
The room was very spacious and that's not something that you find at other downtown Memphis hotels. In addition, the room was very clean and comfortable. The staff was polite and helpful.
I would encourage anyone who would like to stay in downtown Memphis to stay at the Madison.
