My wife and 2 sons have just returned from a 2 week holiday touring Vietnam and I thought I'd share an experience at the Asia Hotel that I think it noteworthy. This hotel is another of Vietnam's 3 star ones which offer great value for money. But beware some offer a lot less that they say. The reception staff were first class at the Asia, and couldn't have been friendlier on our arrival or at any time during our 3 night stay.
I had booked a room each for myself and my wife and a second for my 2 sons, aged 19 & 12. After a long and very sticky day, it always seems to be hot in Vietnam, we checked in and after a welcome cool drink at reception were shown our rooms. Not overly large, but clean and tidy with the customary hard beds. After a stroll around the streets and a late dinner, we headed back for a good nights sleep.......maybe. The airconditioning in our room wasn't up to it, and the boys room had no hot water. Not a good start I'm thinking. A quick call to reception had the maintenance man up in a minute for repairs. After a while of trying to fix both problems at the same time, we were offerred, and accepted, new rooms without any prompting needed. Both rooms were they're luxury suites which are very big and extremely comfortable indeed. The roof top pool, bar and restaurant were great and the location of the hotel is also close to most things worth seeing. The restaurant buffet breakfast was comprehensive and included in the tariff. If you like bacon and eggs at breakfast, you'll be disappointed here as well as all hotels in Vietnam. They have no idea what good bacon is nor how to cook it. But everything else is fine.
There is a very good travel agent next door that can organise day or half day tours at reasonable prices. We also used the Hotels shuttle bus for the 2.5 hour drive to Hoi An which was a great way to see more of the country side. Its a lovely drive through and around the mountains with terrific views from the bus.
So in short, if you're going to Hue, which is a really nice place, the Asia Hotel is extremely good value for money with terrific staff. Highly recommend.
Beware the cyclo riders out the front. They will take you for a ride in more ways than one.

My girlfriend and I stayed here for 4 nights while traveling through Vietnam. Nice hotel. For our $40/night we got a huge room on the 1st floor at the front of the building overlooking the street below. The bed and room were okay - nothing special, but okay for the price.
The room included fresh, local fruit each day and breakfast. The breakfast was okay - lots of pastry choices and some good fruit, but the hot choices weren't of our taste (fried rice, hot dogs, etc.). There are several good restaurants on the same street as the hotel (recommend "Friendly", "Friendly 2", and the street Pho stand around the corner for good local dishes).
The hotel tour desk staff was very friendly. We used them to arrange a car for a day tour and for bus tickets for the transfer to Hoi An. Staff was friendly and helpful.
There were only a couple of minor problems to mention:
1) Upon entering our room, we were greeted by a big, ugly cockroach. We only saw 1 during our stay and think it was because the room had a balconey connected to the roof on the 1st floor. It likely got in when the balconey door was propped open by the cleaning staff or previous guest.
2) The bath in our room had a large tub, but only a hand-held shower that was too short to use while standing up. We had to either sit in the tub or be on our knees to use the shower.
One additional item to note if you're staying during a holiday. Our stay included New Year's Eve and the hotel had scheduled a "gala event". However, since my girlfriend and I were catching the early bus to Hoi An the next day, we decided to try to get to bed before midnight. However, the loud thumping bass and music from the hotel event on the floor below kept us awake until well after midnight. I guess we should've joined in on the fun after all.... :)

The asia Hotel was one of the best hotels we stayed in on our trip to Vietnam-
We had a free cocktail on checking in and our room was spacious, comfortable and clean. Great Location near nice restaurants. Only stayed for one night but would highly recommend this if you are staying in Hue.

We found this hotel a little overpriced. We booked it on the recommendations of our previous hotel. The rooms were ok, but not worth 45 usd for a night.Breakfast was plenty and big choice but also overpriced. Asia Hotel is one of the bigger hotels in Hue but sure there can be better choices for less money. We had the experience that the choice of restaurants in the area is not the best.
There is a nice sky bar on the roof, where staff was really nice and friendly but still, prices were quite high.
Be aware of the hotel's tour organizer lady, who is extremly pushy. We decided to do the DMZ tour with them, but was a great dissapointment. The bus broke down, there were several unnecessary compuslory stops and the tour wasn't as informative as we hoped.

Nice rooms, nice bathroom... excellent breakfast! Even got a voucher for a free drink, chips... But look out for the girls, downstairs in the massage. And I'm sure this place is more than a 'normal' massage...One of the best 3-stars we got in Asia.
