We are staying now at the Marina Beach Hotel. This is just a quick overview on some of the things we have come across. Food terrible. If you are a fussy eater then please don't go to this hotel. If you enjoy pasta and salad then fine. Room is good and drinks are not bad. Staff can be quite sullen and not as friendly as other Greek islands. We have not visited the beach but there are free sunbeds across the road. Gouves itself is very nice and there are quite a few bars and restaurants and it is has a friendly atmosphere. I would come back to Crete but not to this hotel.

We stayed at the Marina Beach for two weeks in September. We stayed in the bungalows which are not bungalows but more of a two storey building. We was very lucky with our room as it was first floor and a family room but there were only two of us. The overall impression of the hotel is very good. It is extremely clean. Unfortunately, the food really lets the hotel down as it is always cold and seem to cater for the Germans and Italians who consistely barge you out of the way to get to the slops. The drinks are not bad but it doesn't cover cocktails only basic local spirits and beer which are OK if you are not fussy. Many people that have stayed all inclusive ended up eating in the town. The consensus of the British people staying at the hotel was the same as us that the food was poor and cold and after a couple of days started eating out. The hotel is also on the flight path and can appear to be quite noisy but it did not cause any problems for us. The bar staff can be quite rude and almost aggressive as we witnessed one of the bar staff shoult at a young lad and threatened to smash his head in. Fortunately, the head barman had more sense and stopped this happening. Gouves as a town is lovely. The Greek people in the town are really friendly and couldn't do enough for you. We would come back to Gouves but would not stay in the Marina Beach Hotel.

Nourriture un peu trop grasse mais bonne et piscine d'eau salée très appréciable. L'hotel est plutôt propre dans l'ensemble.Néanmoins, quelques remarques comme le service moyen (assez commun en Grèce...) de l'établissement, le nombre de suppléments payants (serviettes, salle de fitness, soirée BBQ, etc....) . Pour être tout à fait clair, l'hôtel est bien un 4* mais le service est plutôt digne d'une 1*. Par exemple si le ménage est tjs bien fait dans les chambres, vous pouvez passer deux jours sans tapis de salle de bains, ou bien être obligé d'aller à la réception pour réclamer vous serviettes de bains qu'ils ont oubliés! Bien sur à la réception on les dérange, jamais d'excuses!!!!
