While the location was great, the rooms didn't have a fridge and we were told we couldn't bring food to the room. Breakfast was OK. There is a little shop to the right of the hotel. Get your drinks & snacks there since it's much cheaper than anywhere else. Booked through Orbitz and was told that I needed to pay for the room in cash, since it was discounted. Booked for a week so I didn't have that much and had to use the ATM and get money from different accounts. Sometimes the electricity would go out and we would have to call for them to turn it on. They do this in case people leave lights on, I guess. The room was never vacuumed the whole time we were there since we saw the same crumbs on the floor the whole time.

We have spend 3 days in Florance, in De Lanzi Hotel. OK, for sure it has great location, street next to Duomo and one can walk and see everything you should see easily. Everything is near to De Lanzi Hotel.
Rooms are small, but clear. Neither nice neither ugly – let say just ok.
Front desk: friendly staff, ready to help.
Breakfast – very poor. Espresso was not included in breakfast, brad is not tasty. We expected much more since whole Italy has a great food and coffee.
Worst moment about Florence an hotel is parking. If you are planning to go to Florence by car change your plan!!! You can’t park car anyway, price in public garage is 5 Euros per hour (let me calculate for you – 120 Euros per day). De Lance did us a ‘favor’ and they organize guy who parked our car for just 25 Euros per day. He called us firs morning on hotel at 8am and started to explain something in Italian. Of course we didn’t understand a word. We asked a lady at front desk to call him back, see what was all about and tell us. She did so and tell us that he had some problem with alarm of our car but he solved it on his own. We were really surprised when we got our car back. Guy from garage turn off electricity in the car, broke cd player and reverser. All for 25 Euros per day.
If you are planning trip to Florance, don’t go by car.

I had won a contest with Conde Nast Traveler and they put us up here for four days. At first it was not what I expected, but the rooms were clean, the beds okay, the breakfast was above what other places serve there. We were right by the Duomo and that was a blessing. You could go down by the Duomo late at midnight or later and there is a little hole in the wall place that is really good that the college kids go too. Loved talking with them. All the places you go there to see are in walking distance and I don't walk too far. Vivoli's gellato was to die for and it was pretty close too-made more than a few trips there. If you call the hotel before you go they will get you tickets for the Academia, Uffizi. Best bet on the Uffizi as we saw tourists get turned away. Anyways, the question was would I go back and I would.
Okay, the staff could of been a little friendlier and I was told I could see the duomo from my room-didn't happen. I was just determined not be an ugly American and I think I pulled it off.

Perfect location

My husband and I recently celebrated our one year anniversary in Italy. We stayed at the Hotel De Lanzi in Florence and it was a great experience. The hotel was steps away from the Duomo so the location was ideal. Staff members were helpful with giving us directions and recommendations for restaurants. The rooms and accomodations were adequate.

We arranged to stay 8 nights at this hotel via email. They would respond politely and promptly to all my requests. We received a good low season rate and we were promised a partial view of the Duomo from our room. When we arrived we were told our rate would only be honored if we paid in cash. Since there was at least 6 emails exchanged , one would think they had ample time to let us know that cash only for this rate was in effect. They did accept credit cards! This caused us to incur several transaction fees on our debit card as we accumulated a weeks rent. Instead of one tranaction charge for the bill if it was placed on the credit card. They then told us the rooms with the views were not available to us. This seemed to me to be the Italain hotel version of bait and switch. We ended up with a view on a courtyard where the motorbikes were parked. This motorbike sound was our alarm clock each morning that we were there. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was nicely done but would flood after each shower. The bar had an espresso machine that was used by the staff to prepare their coffee but an automatic machine was used to serve breakfast. What is breafast in Italy without good coffee! The owner matriarch stood "guard" at the breakfast as if she was watching her silverware. This was very offputting. The facility is nice, clean and comfortable. The staff and their attitudes left a lot to be desired.
I would stay again but you should verify rate and method of payment.
