A friend recommended this hotel to us and I booked it directly via email with the hotel.
We stayed at Hotel Julia in Rome from June 15-20. We travelled to Venice and Florence and returned to stay for 2 more nights at Hotel Julia again before returning home to Canada. The location is extremely convenient - very close to the major sites: Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, and Piazza Venezia (all within 15 minutes walking distance). Breakfast was fine, basically pastries, bread , cereal, juice and coffee. Since we have travelled to Venice and Florence, we now realized that the continental breakfast is the norm - travellers should be aware that it is not breakfast buffet like it is in London & Paris.
The staff were excellent. We had a problem with our shuttle payment (we paid the driver instead of the hotel - which was my own mistake, as the instructions from the hotel specifically advised us to pay at the hotel). The reception staff (and I apologize for not getting his name) was extremely helpful. He called the shuttle booking service numerous times, followed up with them to ensure that we did not have to pay the shuttle service again; we recognized that this is our mistake and the staff has really gone out of his way to help recover the payment.
The rooms size are fine (we stayed at 2 different rooms on 2 different floors for our 2 stays). The bathroom size is fine, but the shower stall in 1 of the rooms we stayed in was tiny, so be prepared that it may be a tight fit. Water pressure and temperature were great. There is a hairdryer and ventilation. The street was quiet so the rooms were as well, but you do hear others showers and doors -- the walls are thin, so beware. We do feel very secure and safe.
Overall, we rated the facilities to be good and the service excellent. I will certainly recommend that hotel to my friends.

This was our second stay at the Julia. We knew from our previous visit that the rooms weren't anything special.
However, this time I really noticed that the beds were terrible-- springs in my back, it was very loud, and the breakfast after staying at other hotels left a lot to be desired.
The location is good though--- easy walking distance to the Metro, Trevi, and Spanish Steps.
I just don't think I would stay here again. The bed was just too uncomfortable and our double room was just way too small.

It is not a great hotel, but we have stayed there twice, and have always found the staff very helpful. In all the 2 and 3 star hotels that we have stayed in their breakfast compares with everyone elses. Not great but it gets you going. Our room was comfortable, not very small, but what we have come to expect in this size of hotel. Its location is excellent and well within walking distance of all the major and alot of minor sights.
We found the staff to be extremely helpful, and tried to assist us with any of our requests. I would recommend this hotel to my friends that don't expect 5 star service at a 3 star hotel.

When booking the hotel we gave name & age of the chlidren & we were quoted a price on this basis. When we arrived the rooms were not suitable for the numbere of people so we had to move to a larger room, they charged extra. I feel this was done just to get us to the hotel.
I would not stay there again, this is dishonesty.
