I went to the DR to finalize the deal on my vacation home in Sosua. I was there about two weeks before the house was ready for me to move into and I stayed at the El Colibri. As others have noted, the grounds are beautiful and very relaxing, the pool is wonderful on those warm summer evenings and the staff is unbelievably helpful and friendly. The hotel is a few blocks away from downtown Sosua so there is peace and quiet to be had. I spent many very nice afternoons sitting at the poolside cafe chatting with Steven and Monique. They gave me a lot of good advise as to where to go to furnish and equip my house and even took me to the "La Sirena" department store in Santiago to purchase appliances. They are the ultimate host and hostess and work very hard to ensure you have a good time while at their hotel. My house is operational now but when I return to the DR, I will definitely pop in and spend some quiet time with them and "get caught up". Wonderful place.

I was at a friend's house. that was the way I felt. I forgot that I was a hotel the way I was treated.

I saw a really good deal for el colibri on Orbitz ($27/night) so I booked it. It is a very safe and secure hotel with beautiful garden, pool and a cafe area. The only problem was my actual room. I had the most basic room with no ac and that was fine with me if I didnt have BUGS in my bed. I kept waking up to little tiny bugs crawling on the bed and on me. I changed hotels the very next day. I dont know if all the rooms are like this but mine was

A very beautiful hotel with excellent service and a nice staff. My experiance on staying there was very good. If i ever go back to the DR im going to book at El Colibri for sure. The most important thing for me is that a room is clean and that the service is good. If you are searching for that and also a nice price, you are at the rigth place to book a room there. i felt very safe and comfortable over there and had a very nice time over there. Gr Chitra
