Loved the Staff, Rooms but what a shocking location

As I booked this Hotel on behalf of my colleagues my first reaction was "what have I done? What a hole!" once you get over the shock of the buildings exterior, crazy entrance through the adjoining shopping area carpark, the staff where great! Room was fine, clean, well appointed! It was crazy, this hotel had all I needed for a good stay but in a location where I did not even want to go out of the room! We would check to see if the hire car was intact each day, even though we were assured that no cars had been damaged in years! But my favourite is having the local pub in the basement where we were told that the "worst of the worst" were allowed to drink, and as one cabbie suggested we take a "machete" if we decide to go in!
All I can say is make up your own minds, the staff were fantastic, Liz, Andy, Marek, our Spanish Trainee Manager, the Polish wait staff, but the location is hard to get used to!

What an odd place. The small entrance gives little indication about the size of the hotel. Designed after some bad acid I reckon. The lifts go to intermediate floors, so you always have to climb stairs! The hotel ran out of hot water. My room was minute. The staff were friendly but strangely detached from the whole affair. Not a bad place, but just .... well odd.

I gave this hotel a go because it was the only accommodation left in Aberdeen at short notice, in spite of some poor reviews.
If they charged £30 a night, you could accept the mediocrity, but for over £100p.n. the standards are extremely poor indeed.
The room is decent enough, but the minibar was completely empty, and room service carried a ridiculous £2.50 "tray charge". I was unable to get lunch on the second day because they had no chef. And when I asked reception to book a taxi, the booking was not made and I nearly missed a job interview as a result.
The food and rooms are acceptable enough, but nothing special, and this really is the problem. They charge 4 star prices, yet they fail to perform in the most basic of areas.
