I found the hotel to be pretty good. It has a few good restaurants and bars in walking distance and the staff were very helpful. The pathways and outdoor seating area could have done with a sweep/clean but the room was very clean and tidy. I would definately recommend the place and am booking a month in November.

We travelled to Sarasota over the Easter Break this past March 2008. After settling on the Hibiscus, mainly due to lack of availability, elsewhere, I felt comfortable with my decision. We arrived to the Inn to be told our pre booked room { the townhouse} had a flood and we were being booked into another room. We had booked the townhouse upon the recommendation of the reservations clerk back in January because we needed three beds {not wanting to put our teen son and daughter in the same bed}. Our new room was lovely however now our son was on a pullout in the living area which was quite inconvenient. The rooms were new and clean and had a lovely 1950's charm to them. The bed was very comfortable BUT the NOISE all night long from the highway was inbearable. It honestly sounded like the cars and trucks were coming through our room! All the beautiful renos the owners had done and then only installing very THIN single paned windows. This could also be viewed as a security issue. When I commented at the front desk, the woman/owner commented I should get earplugs. Oh please. I would not recommend this accomadation again.

appeciatively welcome pets

After watching the renovations take place last year while we stayed at another hotel that didn't allow pets, we decided to give the Hibiscus Suites a try because they are "pet friendly". Not only did they welcome our beloved pet, they keep doggie bisquits for their four-legged friends! The staff is very efficient, friendly and full of information about what's going on around Sarasota. The pool is even heated!! Which is something we seldom find at hotels IN FLORIDA!!! This hotel has become our new favorite and whenever we return to southwest Florida, it will be our "home away from home". Aiso, even though it isn't directly on the beach, this hotel still has a lovely tropical vibe right down to the beautiful furnishings. We loved it!!!
I loved this place- great staff

This place was great. It isn't on the beach, but those places were outrageous, and Hibiscus was just 1 1/2 miles from Siesta. The staff knew all the good places to go. We chose to book directly with the hotel, because in the past we used expedia/hotel.com, and never got the bed type we wanted because those "giant travel agents" can never guarentee bed type, so we called directly, and got our choice right away. And they are big like a condo. The pool was heated, and open all night. That was a nice treat. We walked to Carrabas for dinner. We walked right over the beach , less than a mile to Cresant Beach, which was beautiful. We are in shape, and like to walk, so a mile was nothing for our fit family. We would watch from the hotel all the people trying to get on Siesta key sitting in traffic, because they were at the mercy of the bridge. And staying at Hibiscus prevented that. We weren't stuck on the island. Great bagels in the morning. They printed our boarding passes. And a family runs it, so it was personable. Can't wait to return. They bent over backwards to accommodate my family.

Back again to Hibiscus

Second trip to the Hibiscus In and Suites in Sarasota this year. We love the location (near the beaches, restaurants and shopping). Great amenities, continental breakfast, clean, comfortable and a staff that aims to please makes this a destination we will choose over and over again. It's a short distance from downtown Sarasota, so this location gives us proximity to all Sarasota has to offer.
