The rooms here were absolutely fantastic, without a doubt. That is, however, when you do end up in the room you ordered.
We booked 4 Grand Premier Pool view rooms for our honeymoon - we were being joined by family and a friend. The booking was made in January for the 19th February. Three were arranged using a travel agent my wife has used several times before, and one was done using the Burasari website.
When we got there 19th February we were told we had been "upgraded" to a Twin Single room. Upgraded? Sounded more like a downgrade to us, and it was. They did promise us our actual rooms would be ready the next day, but we were only staying one more night.
When my friend arrived who booked online, they told him they were overbooked and the system was telling them he had booked for January, not February. He quickly pulled the printed confirmation email from his bag to advise them this was not the case. He ended up worst off, spending that night in a twin single room at the back of the hotel. Nothing like what he asked for.
While all this was going on, one of our bags went missing from the lobby. They checked the CCTV to find out what had happened to it - it had been taken to another room. The hotel staff claimed the couple in the room picked it up, and the couple say the staff picked it up. We never did see the CCTV footage, but at least we got it back.
Checking out took 45 minutes. We secured the rooms on one credit card but decided to pay on another. This concept went completely over the head of the cashier who advised us that the first card had already been billed. We're still waiting to see the results of this.
This whole experience was a massive shame because, as mentioned before, the rooms are among the best I've seen. But the attitude of the counter staff is not what you'd expect from a 5-star hotel at all. My Thai is quite limited, but my wife mentioned that the language and attitudes used by the staff was amongst the worst she’s ever experienced from a hotel, trying to turn the blame towards the customer rather than themselves.
Sorry to say, we will not be going back or recommending this hotel to anybody.

I will try and be truthful in my opinions and give the good and the bad points to the hotel. Last year I stayed at the Bann Yin Dee because both hotels are claiming to be boutique hotels I will compare them a little.
I changed my booking from a junior suit to a Jacuzzi suite because the room size was bigger, the hotel sent me confirmation that they had received the extra payment but I was asked to pay for the upgrade on signing in and signing out of the hotel, good job I printed off the confirmation email they sent me. My room number was 3201 and at the front of the hotel. The room was huge and so was the bed (bed was hard) I like a minimalist room but I did think the room lacked any atmosphere. The balcony was also spacious, small table and chairs day bed and Jacuzzi. Something to consider, they have altered the road system, a trial for the next 3 months. Because of this we did see a big increase in traffic running past the hotel at all hours of the day and night, so you have a lot more noise and smell pollution.
The reception area is far to small and the staff seemed more interested in getting on with their work than looking up and giving the guests a smile, not a big thing some people might say but a smile first thing in the morning does set the tone for the day. I did try and change some traveller’s cheques early one evening but I was told they don’t provide this service!!!!!
I did call reception on 3 occasions and I must say they responded to my request with great speed.
Breakfast was ok, every thing you would need but it was lacking in atmosphere. I felt the area was far too small and cramped.
The location of the hotel is great, loads of restaurants and shops on your doorstep.
I wouldn’t rate this hotel above a 3 star, I did say I might compare it to the Bann Yin Dee but I can’t because that felt more like a 5 star hotel.
Would I stay in this hotel again, no, because I’ve been to Patong 8 times over the last 15 years and I would have to rate this hotel bottom of the heap.
If you like nice surroundings, great service and a great steak I can recommend the sphinx restaurant.
If I can be of any more help please email me and I will do my best to answer your questions.

My friend and I spent 4 nights here in mid December. It is true what they say about Thai hospitality - the staff were incredibly friendly on every occasion. Some didn't speak very good english but that didn't stop them from helping us every way they could, from suggesting best ways to explore beaches north/south of patong or the perfect restaurant for a special occasion (they recommended a restaurant that was a few minutes away, on top of the hill looking down over a glittering patong beach and sent a private car to pick us up and drop us home!).
When we first arrived we were put in a Premier room in the Lagoon Wing but it looked out to the old rundown building next door. Not very impressive and killed the mood completely. We ended up upgrading to a Grand Premier room for a small surcharge (1000B/night) with balcony and day bed that overlooked the pool. It looked just stunning by night. Room was big and spacious too. If you get the chance, definitely spend the extra money to stay in one of these rooms.
Buffet breakfast is very good, but i found the bar to be the best. Cocktails are so cheap (150B) and some nights they have special offers such as buy one get one free pina coladas! I was a bit disappointed with the restaurant, as their website advertised celebrity chef Keith Flloyd. However when we got there, it turned out the restaurant had not yet opened. Not a big deal though as there are a million other options along the main strip and beyond.
I agree with most of the reviews on this website and found the location to be unbeatable. It is literally 30 seconds from the beach, and close enough to all the action but removed enough so that you can enjoy some peace when you go back for some rest. It starts at the end of patong beach so that you don't miss any of the shops/stalls along the strip. It's a nice 10 minute stroll to the other end.
There were still some minor renovations happening while we were there but we barely noticed it. I think the Burasari is still adding the finishing touches to their renovations but nothing that was too major such as drilling or hammering. Overall, we loved our stay here. The staff made it especially enjoyable.

Stayed at this oasis at patong in May 2006 in a direct pool access room in the original building. At this time the new part of the hotel was under construction. Enjoyed our two weeks so much we book again for christmas 18/12 to 30/12/2006.
Arrived 18/12 and could only say WOW, the dramatic change to this hotel visually, was enormous, in my mind it went from 100% to 120%. The thought taken in the construction and the ambience of the gardens flowers and plants will knock you out.
Was nice to see old friends still on staff, and that they were keeping up the good work in guest relations. Had the opportunity of speaking with the new manager Chris, and i can tell you from experience this hotel is now better managed than before, and before it was well managed.
The Burasari is still small enough to provide facilities par excellence, from your room to dining room, food and beverages, and a standard of service you expect but rarely get.
If your retired, a couple or a family try this hotel you will be pleasantly supprised.

Stayed at the Burasari for 2 nights at the begining of Jan. The pictures looked good and the review from Trip sounded good so we booked 3 rooms for 2 nights.
First impressions were quite good, but the first problem seemed to be that we got insect bites in the lobby at about noon time. This was probably due to all the greenary around the hotel. Got taken to the room and got hit with a Musky smell. This stayed throughout our stay. The bathroom was a bit dated with lots of small mirror squares. The room we had was quite bit (Premier Pool View room) with a day bed on the balcony. You could not sit out there as there was a funny smell out there as well as the insect bites.
The room had a bath only, no shower.
The pool was very small as well.
Everything is surrounded by green foliage so if you do not like that I would look for something else.
Someone said the cocktails are cheap, but the beer certainly is not, its quite expensive.
Positives:
Apparently when we were there, you could have what you like from the mini bar and it was complementary. It got re-filled everyday.
Location was very good as everyone else has said.
Service was good, when we tried to look for another room which did not smell, had a shower and double bed, they tried quite hard, but still did not find any rooms that matched.
