We arrived at the hotel at 9pm it was dark and we were very tired, there were no porters to carry our luggage in, perhaps we were expecting too much, the hotel did not look clever from the outside a third of it was covered in a scafolding sheet, we were served very quickly at reception and we got what we booked, a high floor with a balcony with sea view, the staff were very helpfull, the lobby was very clean and much better than the outside appearance! we got to our room on the eighth floor no 8111 the room was spotlessly clean with a super bathroom with bath and shower and fresh towels,so we were very happy with the room, we had missed the evening meal but we was not hungry anyway, so we went next door to a pub which was a proper pub and not just for the tourists the Guinness in there was the best I had drunk outside of Ireland! so this was our watering hole for the next 14 days, we slept well that night. The next morning we went for breakfast, I had bacon egg and beans my wife had all the healthy stuff the food was very good indeed, the evening meal was even better the cooks certainly done the hotel proud, we had booked half board we bought a mid day snack from the hotels poolside bar across the road, and the pool is not the one you see in all the pictures of the hotel, in fact you cant see it from the 8th floor and can only just about see it from the top of the hotel but it is a nice pool and cleaned out daily. We were woken the first morning by the most amazing bright sunrise that I had ever seen followed by another 13 of these while we were there and all this was free! but it did happened at 6am. So keep your camera handy! While we were there the food seemed to be getting better and better heading towards 5* It was my 65th birthday while we were there so we went to Nina's wine bar and bistro for my birthday meal it was one of the best birthday meals I have ever had with 2 bottles of wine the bill was under ?40 for two of us, well it was my 65th birthday , Malta is not a cheap place the euro has seen to that, everything about this hotel is very good we had a trouble free holiday right untill the last day, but this did not spoil our stay there, we wanted to keep our room on untill we left and they kept us waiting right to the last minute and then told us the hotel was full so we had to get out at 11am and wait for our pick up at 6.30pm but the lounge was good so we did not mind untill the power went off at 4.30pm then it got very hot in there, to make matters worse the local transport buses were on strike and it was chaos at the airport but the later had nothing to do with the hotel. There is a rooftop bar and sundeck at the hotel, evening entertainment is very quite.Apart from the day the buses went on strike they are a fantastic way to see Malta there is a bustop each side of the road from the Hotel, also there are lots of good eating houses near to the hotel as well as super market near to back of the hotel. Overall we had fantastic time at the Preluna and we shall return there in the future.

went to the preluna for my 60th birthday with my family which included my 88 year old mother. we had a wonderful time from start to finish. my husband did upgrade our room as a surprise to a balcony suite which was fantastic it had 3 balconies spread around the suite with a wonderful sea view.
reception staff were brilliant nothing too much trouble, even let us have a room to shower before our late flight home.the food was good and the staff great, no hustle and bustle always arranged a table for us all to dine together.the only staff who did'nt seem too pleasant were in the coffee lounge, they could have been a little more helpful.we did pay extra for all inclusive which was well worth it as we had a few late nights!!!!!!!!!!!! we will certainly return to this fantastic hotel.

Just back from the preluna were we stayed for 2 weeks hotel is fine clean and serves good food with plenty of choices . Bedrooms are cleaned everday and towels changed too.The hotel has its own beach club just across the road were you can buy barbecue foods sandwiches drinks etc.The hotel has a skyroom on the 14th floor with great views all around you can also dine up there and it has a bar.Just down the road from the hotel is a cafe run by a british couple called Chat n Chew you can get anything from a sandwich to a curry and it is great value i would reccomend you go there. Having said all that i think that 2 weeks in malta is too much as it is such a small place you can probably see it all in 1 week.Happy holiday.

My husband and I have just come back from this hotel after a week's stay and needed to let you know what a great time we had. The hotel is wonderful; friendly and attentive staff, very clean rooms with daily maid service, aircon etc and good entertainment. The food was lovely; with varied choices of hot meals, salads, cold meats, fruit and desserts. We were spoiled for choice! Also breakfast was great with a very good choice. The staff in the restaurant were all friendy and not once had any reason to complain. There is also a beach club across the road which is part of the hotel if you fancy laying on a sun lounger and have a dip in the pool - which is right by the sea. So overall a hotel which we highly recommend. Its also very well situated by the sea and only 5 minute walk to the main big bus terminal to catch buses all over the island or to take the ferry to Valetta. Sliema has a lovely long promenade which is just outside the hotel - enjoy!!!! We certainly did.

Well-run hotel

The Preluna is a very well-managed hotel. The staff are well-trained, efficient, helpful and friendly. The reception staff in particular were outstandingly good.
We booked one of the basic rooms. The large picture-window gave no view and there was no balcony, but the room was a good size, and had plenty of storage space. (The full specs for the various grades of room are given on the hotel’s website.) The beds were OK and the bathroom fine. We developed a dripping pipe, but this was fixed promptly by the hotel’s in-house maintenance engineer.
The hotel’s various facilities all seemed well run, except for the Preluna Towers Cafe, where the staff though aimiable seemed to have little idea of what their individual jobs were.
The buffet breakfasts in the Triton Restaurant covered all the conceivable requirements for a full British, a full German and a full French. The quality of the inidividual items varied, but it was not difficult to have a large and enjoyable breakfast. There were lots of Germans and Brits tucking in, and plenty of Italians and French too.
We were on B & B, so we ate out in the evenings for the first five days, but though we found pleasant restaurants with ambience and good service, the food was not outstanding and it was quite expensive. The price of the all-you-can-eat evening buffet in the Triton was 15.75 Euros, and other guests enthused about it, so we decided to ask Reception if we could switch to half-board. This took about a minute to arrange, and the additional cost was only 12 Euros pppn – remarkable value, considering that it was easy to enjoy a six course meal of soup, pasta, various salads, a main course, desserts and fresh fruit if you so desired. Again the quality was uneven, but there were always some triumphs, and the carvery option in the main course was uniformly excellent. It was also a pleasant surprise when the drinks list turned out to be considerably cheaper than the prices outside, eg. a half-carafe of very pleasant local white wine was only 3 euros.
There are ATMs just outside the hotel on both sides, a supermarket a block to the rear, bus stops just outside, and the shops start about 200m away.
There is a busy main road just outside the hotel, and beyond that the sea, which is wonderfully transparent and a beautiful colour, and easy of access for swimming, or sunbathing on the rocky shelf running along the coastline.. But too cold to tempt us in early May.
We used the excellent public bus service to go all over the island, and did several walks from the Sunflower “Landscapes” series. The best ones were down near Mellieha, which is about 40 minutes by bus from the hotel. We greatly enjoyed Valletta, and also the Three Cities and Mdina and Dingli Cliffs and Hagar Qim Temple. There is a lot more to enjoy in Malta than we thought.
