We stayed for 2 nights. We stayed in a standard room that had the city view. Was concearned about the traffic but the windows had double glazing and we didn't hear any noise. The standard of the hotel was very high. The breakfast had a huge selection of fruits, cereals, meats and cheeses. The was also a hot buffet as well. Champagne was also served.. a nice buck fizz to start your day. The room was lovely and the bed was comfortable. Just needed when you have been walking all day.
There is also an indoor pool and sauna room , and free internet in the lobby area. The hotel was 5 mins walk to the centre of Rotterdam with an ambundance of shops.
Across the road from the hotel was a manmade beach and restaurant called The Strand. very nice as it overlooks the river.
Dont miss out on the trip to Kinderdijk by boat ..at only 12euros for 3 hours . Well worth the visit to see the windmills. You catch the boat 50 yards from The Strand.
Would stay here again.

Stayed for two days for business. Since the room was being paid for by my hosts I cannot comment on pricing, but I thought the hotel was a very good business hotel. Conveniently located three subway stops away from the central station and on some of the main tram lines, it allows for easy access.
The hotel is situation on the Maas River near the Erasmus Bridge and the rooms in the Panorama section of the hotel affords very good views.
The complimentary internet service worked great and the linens and toiletries were very good. The room I had was very spacious, clean and modern.
The breakfast service is very good and I found the staff to be helpful. All in all a good experience.

I stayed in the Golden Tulip for a week and found it to be a cozy hotel with very helpful employees. I was in Rotterdam on business and usually only used the hotel for sleeping or taking a nap during the day. Please note that the hotel was packed full with other attendees at a large conference in Rotterdam, so that may slightly skew my experience.
First off the shortcomings, the room I had was very small, to an American at least. I believe the suites and panorama room are much larger than the standard rate room. I slept on two double beds pushed together, this was OK since I am not a big bed hog. The linen was very thick but comfortable. There were some noticeable stains on the wall. Housekeeping came promptly everyday but I noticed they did not vacuum the floors. I found the room to be smokey when I entered, it had not be aired out at all, though acceptable as it was a smoking room. Outside my room was the harbor and due to the ducks and occasional fog horn it was a bit loud, best to close the windows and turn on the AC at night. Had the room been spotless and contained a larger bed I would rate the room very highly. The flaws may result from the hotel being so busy at the time.
The hotel employees are GREAT, extremely courteous and helpful. I had no problems ordering taxis or getting directions from the desk staff. The restaurant and bar were also quite good for lunch and breakfast, room service food was also better than average. My food was accidentally delivered to another room and had to call to room service, they promptly sent a hot replacement meal within 15 minutes, and apologized profusely!
All said it was a decent, if unspectacular room. I was happy with my stay but would also like to see what other hotels Rotterdam has to offer. The friendly and very helpful employees are really a great part of this hotel. Customer service is a great asset to have these days and it is no short supply at the Golden Tulip.

I stayed here on a business trip a few days ago. Checked in into a room on the 12th floor overlooking the harbour. Astonishing views [witnessed and especially great sunrise the next morning].
Room was very spacious with large windows and full amenities.
Problem though was the cleanliness of the windows - they were actually just filthy. Not something you'd expect when checking into a 'Panorama-room'. You like your windows to be clean...
Otherwise very comfortable room and bathroom.
The decor in the halls though was another contrast. Very run down hall ways, smelly and scruffy. The only two elevators are not sufficient of course for the number of rooms/guest of this hotel. You didn't want to forget your briefcase in the room when you urgently needed it.
Very nice bar area on the ground floor - also serves as breakfast area. Staff were very friendly, albeit not overly efficient. Very friendly front desk staff as well.
Some things just didn't fit to make this an overal great experience, but certainly worth a visit if you are in the area (ask for a room with clean windows).
