Some good & some bad points

The good points are that it is priced well and in a super location, just 5 mins away from La Grande Plage. The no 6 'stab' bus from the airport drops you right outside the door for ?1.20.
Beside a supermarket, asian museum and cute boulangeries & patisseries. Comfortably close to bars and restaurants without the rowdiness. It is clean and the staff are very pleasant and accommodating. Nice sized pool and solarium (area for sun beds). Clean. Large breakfast area (?10 extra per day, must be booked the night before).
The place however has a few negative points. The hotel is basic almost to the point of being anal. The room you get looks exactly like the picture, however, in actuality, it is very, very small and the decor and fittings are cheap looking and painfully functional. It is too clinical, almost like a psych ward (I imagine!) I guarantee this would effect your head if you stayed longer than a weekend.
Unbelievably, there is no airconditioning so you must leave the window open at night. This is the biggest problem, the hotel is situated at a small but busy roundabout. The noise of revving cars and the god-forsaken wingey mopeds through the night almost tipped me over the edge. The walls and doors are also thin so be prepared to bring earplugs.
The cleaners don't seem to use Bluloo so the toilet has a permanent pee smell. I was also disgusted to learn on the last day that pets are allowed to stay in the rooms. The thought of someone's mangey hound lying on the same pillows and bedspread that I was using made me actually heave.
I did laugh however at one British tourist complaining that the place was very dark....I had to point out that in most parts of France there is a timer light as you enter corriders and other common areas. They all do it. Toilet lights are only switched on during use. The Tulip is the same.

What a dump! booked in for ten nights only stayed 2. I booked a family room for 3 we had a small twin room with a put me up bed wedged beetween two single beds. the room was so small you could not get the chair out from under the desk to sit on! No bath only a small shower room. The put me up bed had not been put together properly so when my daughter got into bed the first night she fell through it. The only saving grace was that the hotel staff agreed with me and after complaining to my booking agent I was given a full refund. Threre are NO family rooms at this 2* hotel.

We stayed for 2 nights at the end of August.
Staff very friendly and helpful; rooms same size as UK budget hotels; excellent shower and very good location - only 5 minutes from town centre.
Add to that a pleasant pool and gardens and you've got great value for an August stay for the same price as a budget hotel in southern England!
We had read that some people had found it noisy from traffic - not us, and we had a room facing the road.

The Tulip Inn, Biarritz, has a very fancy website, boasting of a pool, business facilities, multilingual staff etc.
However, when we stayed there in July 2007 the reality was that the hotel presented itself as a basic facility which fell far short when compared to other 3 star hotels we stayed in in France.
Whilst our bedroom and bathroom were clean, the design of the room was very dated and the beadspread etc. were clearly very old. The room had no airconditioning and so was extremely hot and stuffy at night, making sleep very difficult.
We could not open the window because our room was close to a busy road and the traffic noise, even with our window shut, was at all times very, very loud. What little sleep we got in the hot, sticky room was thanks to the use of earplugs.
For the Tulip Inn's 99 Euro per night price and its 3 Star rating, we frankly expected a far better quality of hotel.

We stayed at the Tulip Louisiane mid August for 3 nights and 1st impressions were not too good. The hotel is very basic, and at a cost of €99 per night for what you got, a bit pricey too.
However the room, although very small was clean and was cleaned each day. No aircon so you have to have a window open and the road outside can get a bit noisy. TV showing CNN, Eurosport etc was new. The corridors are very dark in this place! There is street parking but it was always full and was metered so you can use the hotel garage @ another €10 a night!!
The pool is ok with sunbeds to relax for a while early evening if you have been out all day.
I thought the location was ok - only a 10 or 15 mins or so walk to the centre (casino etc) but uphill on the way back.
Overall i'd say if you can find simillar priced hotels available with better reviews then dont book the Tulip - But if not and your coming to Biarritz and its all thats available then why not...But expect a bed for the night - nothing else!!
