Golden Tulip not quite 4*

I have returned from a week in Malta staying at the Golden Tulip hotel. While there was nothing wrong with the hotel i would not class it as A 4* Hotel. It was clean and the staff were very friendly and heplfull.
The decor of the hotel was dated espically the halls and rooms. the place could do with refurbmished. It lacked the little touches which i would expect in a 4* Star hotel such as a porter to carry your luggage to your room a must if you were an elerdly person. I would have also expected that towels would be offered to residents using the roof top pool.
The breakfasts were very good.My room overlooked the sea and was very quite.
I would probably stay there again as it was very central for the beach and bars and restaurants and it also has parking if you had a car.
The place just needs a bit of a face lift.

I stayed a week at the Hotel. It was very noisy, even though I was not on the roadside of the Hotel.
The food was not cooked long enough. I had a piece of chicken which when cut into, still had blood thorugh it.
The rooms were ok, but the toilet handle was so caked in limescale, that you had to pust it up before pushing it down to flush.
The Maids tried to tidy my room whilst I was still in it. When I said I did not wanted it cleaned, I then received 2 phone calls asking whether they could clean it. Perhaps they should employ staff who understand English.
I will not be recommending this Hotel to Family, Friends or Work Colleagues.

The Vivaldi was a very good hotel, in an awful area. It is surrounded by loud, late night bars and fast food joints. When in the hotel and you can forget where you are all is well. The minor downsides are there were no tea and coffee making facilities in the room, the indoor pool and jacuzzi were freezing and the outdoor pool is tiny.
I would recommend this as a well priced 4 star if you can put up with walking through the noise, groups of teenagers and insalubrious surroundings to get to and from it. It is not in St Julians, it's in Pacevile, which is Malta's equivalent to Benidorm or Magaluff.
