Reserved 7 rooms for a middle school study tour. Check in was slow, as each room had to be processed individually, but the receptionist was very warm and friendly. Rooms were nice. Recently redone. Breakfast was good, and included waffles. The best feature was the large indoor pool. Great way for kids to blow off a little energy. Access is easy, plenty of parking and rates were low.

After driving for a few hours decided to stay here as I found a good coupon in one of the travel books. They are still remodeling a few rooms but overall hotel was in good shape. Pool and hot tub were closed by the time that I checked in, but breakfast in the morning was good. would definately stay again.

I stayed here with my family of four, for the annual Fall Bicycle Festival in Staunton/MiddleBrook in mid-Oct and because of the fall colors couldn't find anything else available. The hotel location couldn't be beat and Staunton was a charming town. I also was able to get a discount ($10/night) by calling central reservations the day before our stay. Now I know why....
If you've stayed at an original Guesthouse Inn with spacious rooms, open interior corridors, pristine swimming pool and breakfast bar with yogurt and fruit...this is not the same hotel. This is a Guesthouse Inn by name only and was recently a Shoney's Inn, hence the Shoney's Restaurant nearby. I read an early review about the breakfast and didn't believe it until I saw it myself. The truly "tightwad" owners of the hotel do in fact meter out food during the skimpy continental breakfast. I was there with several others carbing up for a 40-50 mile bike ride and we had to ask for everything...bananas, waffle batter, bread, eggs. It wasn't like they didn't have the stuff, they just wouldn't put it out. At first I thought is very thoughtful for someone from the hotel staff to tend to us in the breakfast but found that it is obviously a way to ration out and control the food. It was awkward, annoying and cheap. The orange juice and apple juice was obviously watered down...you get the picture....not a good way to start the day.
The room was adequate with a fridge and microwave combo. The housekeeping staff was very nice, although we needed to request additional towels for our family. The pool and jacuzzi area was a big hit with the kids but this adult noticed that the whole area needed a complete renovation as is was rusting, run down and needed more chairs.
Stay here for no more than one night.

We stayed at this hotel overnight while traveling on
Route 81. They are in the process of remodeling
the rooms, which is needed. But the staff was courteous.
The rooms were clean, the area is nice, the breakfast
was good. Shoney's restaurant is close by for dinner.
Indoor pool is available but we didn't use it.
We traveled with a small dog, they charged $10.00 extra.

This hotel is very convenient to interstate. I got a decent walk-in rate from one of those coupon books. The room was clean, but the television had only a few channels, not usually a problem, but Pres. Ford had just died and we wanted to see the coverage. On the plus side, the indoor pool was very warm and clean, which is nice in January, and we had it to ourselves. Very nice ladies at front desk. One thing that really bugged me: they advertise a pretty good breakfast until 9. We got there at 8:30, there was a sign on waffle maker that said "Out of Order" but it was still warm and plugged in! There was no decaf coffee, which is a must. Finally twisted the owner's arm and she made us some. That bugged me a little, because we were told the waffles were delicious. We had to stop for breakfast down the road. I got the feeling the owners were a little tightwadish.
