My husband and I and two other couples all loved our stay at the Hotel Derby and would definitely return. The owner Juerg is very friendly and helpful without being intrusive or in your face. He readily provides information on trips and amenities if required and nothing is too much trouble. For instance, my friend was having problems charging her mobile phone as her travel adaptor didn't seem to be compatible with the hotel sockets. She took her charger with her to breakfast one morning and left it on the table whilst she fetched her breakfast, intending to ask Juerg if he could help after she'd eaten. On returning to her table she found that Juerg had already fitted an adaptor to her charger, without even having to be asked! The breakfast is lovely too, mainly buffet with lots of bread, meat, cheese, jam, cereals, and delicious yoghurt, and also coffee and juice. The hotel was also spotlessly clean, with the pleasant cleaning staff coming in daily. Our room was very nice, it faced the pretty garden at the rear with a lovely view of the mountains (if you are lucky enough you may also catch a glimpse of Josephine the resident cat inspecting the premises early mornings). It was modern with wooden flooring, very comfy bed, tv/radio, fridge, and what appeared to be a newly fitted bathroom with excellent enclosed power shower, there was also a hairdryer in the bathroom. We felt that the hotel was ideally positioned in Interlaken, it's a short walking distance from Interlaken West Station, and although not right in the centre of town is only a very short walk from anywhere. By the way, the people next door at the bicycle hire place are very friendly too. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Derby and will most certainly return next year. P.S. The owner even gave us all a box of chocs on our departure, what more could you ask for.

My creditcard is also charged by the hotel while i have not made any booking.
Contact with the hotel was terrible and they don't want to listen.
By a chargeback i have got my money while they could not give any signature from me to the creditcard organisation.
So, Hotel Derby is for me a terribel hotel.

Hotel Derby Interlaken Issue Fraud !!!! Be Careful

Hotel Derby are offen do charges on your creditcard while they have no Authorisation.
A credit of the hotel is not done and a chargeback is the only option.
So be wise and do not book this hotel !!!!

I stayed at the Derby for several days just after their renovations were completed in April 08 and loved it. Great location, great breakfast and the owners, Jurg and Pia (and cat Josephine) were the best. They were friendly, helpful and always on hand to give travel advice.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Interlaken.
