Did not really intend to go to this Hotel.
We had booked two weeks at a sister Hotel (Vulcano in Playa Las Americas - excellent Hotel) but whilst there we were given the opportunity (because the Vulcano was at maximum occupancy) to transfer to La Arena and sample it's delights.
Having read on the Vulcano reviews about "if you get the chance to take the free trip to Playa La Arena do so - it's a fabulous Hotel" we did the day trip and yes, it is a fabulous Hotel.
Having been impressed by what we saw on the day trip we transferred the following day.
Once we settled in we began to wonder if we had done the right thing. Everything about the Hotel (rooms, entrance hall, pools area, restaurants) is superb - but it holds about 1,000 people (I think) and there were just three hundred there.....so it had a bit of an "empty" feel to it. Plus - after Las Americas - the area around the Hotel is very small and quiet. Lovely (black sand) Beach and a smattering of bars, retaurants and "seaside" type shops - but nothing like Las Americas.
After a couple of days we realised that the Hotel being quite empty was (actually) a huge bonus and - in contrast to the Vulcano where you can never get a sun bed unless you get up whilst it is still dark - at La Arena we had a choice of hundreds!!
I will not repeat all the other wonderful comments about this Hotel - because they are all true - I will simply say that it was most relaxing holiday we have ever had and we had a truly fantastic time.
A brand new sister Hotel which will cater for the "all inclusive" market is soon to open nearby and that would be the ideal location for families looking for bigger rooms with more beds and that sort of "all inclusive" option.
La Arena will then (hopefully) become the haunt of couples seeking a quiet, relaxing holiday is beautiful surroundings.
In conclusion - great Hotel, good staff, perfect for a relaxing, quiet holiday. Thanks for giving us such a great time!!
We WILL be back - hopefully before too long.

We have just recently got back from this wonderful hotel and I miss it so much. I travelled with my wife and my one year old daughter. From the moment you walk in to the reception your jaw drops and hits the ground, its spectacular. The hotel is amazingly clean, well run and looked after. The food is first class and I am fussy, The steaks are as good as any London Restaurant. The Staff were wonderful. I have stayed in some very good hotels including Sandals and this is better, trust me. We have just booked through First Choice a Suite in the New All inclusive Hotel that is currently being built, the hotel is also part of The Spring group and 5 mins from Playa Arena. Another bonus is that the Management team are very good and the assistant manager is English. Brilliant Hotel. Loved it.
