We have just returned from the Arona Gran where we went with friends for my husbands 40th birthday suprise. What a great hotel really impressive from the moment you enter the massive reception area with its hanging vegetation and indoor waterfall.
The food was excellent with so much choice every night there was something for everyone - most of it freshly cooked while you watched. I am a really fussy eater and only ever eat chips and tomotoes when i am on holiday but the food was great and the staff lovely.
The rooms were very clean and the maids came in daily and left it spotless.
The pool area is the highlight with views looking out to sea and the port of Los Cristianos in the distance where you can watch the boats coming and going. We used to position our sunbeds looking out to sea and it was lovely. There is a promenade that takes you all the way into Las Americas which is a lovely walk with bars and resteraunts all the way. The nearest beaches by the hotel are rocky but a short stroll takes you to a beach by the harbour and just round the corner is a lovely beach with a waterfall in the sea. The shops in Los Cristianos were fab and having walked there its only 6 euros for a taxi back. There is a market next to the hotel on a sunday well worth a visit with great bargains especially if you are prepared to haggle. The boys played golf just up the road and said the course was lovely.
There was nightly entertainment in the hotel but if you fancied a change a short stroll takes you to several bars with nightly entertainment of a very good standard. The hotel also organises day time activities and there is a good gym, squash courts, table tennis and indoor driving range.
All in all we had a great holdiay and would definately go back!!!

I'll try not to repeat other reviews so here goes.....
Been to lots of 4/5 star hotels in Adeje/LA but my first time in Los Cristianos. Hotel is worthy of its 4 star rating but not of some oerators 5 star rating. I booked direct with the hotel which worked out a lot cheaper than Thomas Cook/Thomson. You get a free taxi transfer, free coffee in the room( nice touch is a bottle of water every day to make the tea/coffee). You also get the fabulous sea view thrown in no extra charge. This in itself is worth every penny.
Clientele is definately of a certain age. Entertainment is the same acts that are on in every other similar hotel in the area. Food I always think is a personal taste. I was surprised that another vegetarian reviewer found plenty choice - as a non fussy veggie I found only salad almost every night. I'm a strict veggie though - no fish etc. In saying that there was always something to fill me up.
I was wary of the system of using a card then settling up at the end of the week but it works well. Make sure and apply for your spring discount card before you go - it gets you 15% off your bill.
Supermarket literally straight across the road which sells everything. Bars etc not too far to walk - 5 mins takes you to the nearest. Adeje is a much nicer area than Los C. nicer shops, restaurants, no grafitti.
Don't pick this hotel if you want to be near the beach - it isn't a beach - it's rocks.
Fabulous views from the rooms - nicest I have ever had. Pay up for the sea view, you won’t regret it or book direct and get it free.
Pool area is fab - pools are warm and there are plenty sunbeds to go round (in April ) Yes, there were the bookers but isn't that everywhere now and the hotels do nothing about it.......
Gym doesn't open until 10.00a.m and you have to pay - never before have I had to pay for a hotel gym. It not opening until 10 is a total pain for those of you who want to do something before settling down to the hard work of sunbathing.
Don't bother taking towels - you get them from 9 - 5 and they let you keep them late on your last day with no problem. We also were allowed to keep our room on the last day with no charge - excellent.
Bad points- FACTS ONLY - draw your own conclusions -
I witnessed a member of the bar staff absolutely losing their temper at an English lady for absolultely no reason. He was gesturing, shouting , not acceptable. She was really quite upset about it. Lucky it wasn't me. They gave her lunch and drinks on the house. He continued to rant and rave for at least half an hour. Well done to Sara for calming the situation.
I left my jacket on a chair in the pool bar and didn't realise until I was going home (weather was hot). Long story short, reception were actually shouting at me at one point. Pool bar staff found said jacket and gave it to reception (as instructed). Somehow it was not there when I went to claim it dispite the bar staff member going to no amounts of trouble to try to find it again. thank you to him. The fact remains that this 4 star hotel were in possession of my jacket and it was not there when I went to claim it. I know my conclusion.
My husband got locked into the room, door closed between the bedroom and bathroom area and just would not open! It was actually very funny but don't know how one of the older guests would have reacted to being asked to climb over the balcony 4 floors up! Dress code at dinner - three quarters are not acceptable for men, jeans and trainers are, work that one out if you can. I would hate to be male in the height of the summer and not be allowed to wear perfectly acceptable dressy 3/4 trousers. That in itself would make us not return. they need to get into the 21st century with this one. I totally understand why shorts/vests/football tops are a no no but designer 3/4?
Finally, 5 star treatment from Stefanie the customer relations manager. She is excellent and seemed truly upset about the things that had happened, particularly my jackets mysterious disappearance. I actually believe she just might get to the bottom of it although I hold out no hope for my very favourite Armani jacket!!

Stayed for ten days and had a wonderful holiday. A superb room with a sea/pool view - this we found was important as some of the rooms had a view we would have found unacceptable. The rooms were clean, spacious and had linen changed every day, also towels if you wished. Toiletries were provided. There was a safe for which we were charged extra, a lovely balcony and a mini bar/fridge. We only used this for our own bottled water as we thought the drinks prices rather expensive, especially so round the pool (?5.00 for two Cokes!!) I was amazed by the selection of food, you would have to be very picky if you could not find things to your taste, and the food cooked on the 'show cooking' stations was extremely good and hot. A couple of mornings you could have 'Bucks Fizz' for breakfast if you wished - all included.
The pool area was a delight and was cleaned and sanitised every night. The reception area was amazing, all marble balconies and ferns trailing down, which I thought were imitation but were in fact real !
If you book directly with the hotel - you get tea and coffee and water provided in your room at no charge and you also get a free taxi to and from the airport if you stay 7 days or more. We were in the hotel 25 mins after collecting our luggage at the airport, no touring round dropping people off at various hotels etc.
Only two very minor criticisms - the entertainment was very average - a couple of nights were OK, but the rest a bit amateurish. And the other niggle was the hairdryer in the bathroom - the handle got so hot after about 2 mins that you had to put it down - it was a design fault really - but I had to wind a towel round it to finish drying my hair.
The sea front area at Los Christianos is undergoing some refurbishment at present, and so looks a bit scruffy while the work is going on, but it will be superb when finished, with loads of extra benches all along the promenade, and a wooden boardwalk with plenty of palm trees being planted. The authorities seem to be spending a lot of money in this area to make it more attractive, hopefully one day they may spend a bit on the area further up towards the Arona Gran to bring it up to the standard of the rest of the promenade.
Overall a fantastic holiday, would definitely go back, and we now have a 'Spring card' which the hotel encourages you to apply for and which gives you 15% discount off any extras you purchase - so my Cokes will next time cost that little bit less !!!

First class hotel

We have just come back after a one week break at the Arona Gran, It is a great hotel. Food, entertainment, staff all first class. On requesting an early morning call to catch our flight home the receptionist was quick to tell us that breakfast started at 4.30am so we would not leave them hungry. Room was clean and very comfortable, hotel has extensive seating areas where you can while away some time out of the hot sun if you want to. Two lovely swimming pools (heated too) We are looking to go back again later this year.

The hotel screamed out 'quality' the moment we entered the antrium style reception and bar area. All the staff were well turned out and helpful during our seven day stay. I'm glad that we payed extra for a full sea view because we were entertained by the coming and going of the ferries. The balcony was well furnished and had it's own retractable sun canopy in case the sun was too much. Our bedroom and bathroom were of very good standard and serviced every day as you would expect. UK TV chanels were a bonus. We do not normally go in for buffet style half board eating arrangements but were pleasantly surprised by the quality and variation that was on offer at mealtimes. The pool area was superb and had the benefit of heated pools which were very welcome in April. The evening entertainment was not great and the beach outside the hotel was awfull. The nearest decent beach is a 30 minute walk.
