my sons, and their families ( all together 8 ) stayed with me at the Hotel Globus, because they thought, " THIS IS THE BEST value for money they found ".
I can tell EVERYONE , who reads THIS .......,
THIS was the worst decision !
this hotel has the most UNFRIENDLY staff ( reception ) , the worst food ( restaurant and bar ) , and the dirtiest bathrooms i have EVER seen.
Not even in 3-star hotels in Romania or Bulgaria , you would find SUCH a thing !

was a bit wary of this hotel after reading reviews and was pleasantly surprised. hotel was very clean and staff were pleasant. the lights in the room went off and staff came within a minute of me calling them took 2 mins 2 fix.breakfasts were not very good but you could manage.restraunt to the left of hotel is super.my husband is 59 and walked to the metro in around 3 minutes, there are high rise apartments next to the hotel but never saw any graffite, was not at all daunting, walked by at all hours& was never worried. 4 the little we paid we thought it was very good. the metro is fantastic as one train leaves another pulls in.

I have just got back from a 3 night stay at the Globus Hotel in Prague.
For starters, photo's on the site make it look as if the hotel is located in a park. The back of it can be classed as a park/ wood but the frontage faces several large blocks of drab looking flats. Plus side of this is that there are a few shops and subway stop nearby, minus point is that is is not what one would call attractive.
The outside of the hotel was as pictured, clean with a nice drive leading up to the covered front entrance.
I went to the hotel as chaperone to a large group of teenagers. Check-in was relatively painless, though slightly chaotic but with 60 rooms to accomodate, it wasn't surprising. The lady that manned the reception in the evening and early morning was a gem, very helpful. One of the rooms had a defective shower and our nice lady offered to change the room without need of prompting. I was very impressed.
The daytime reception staff were less helpful, trying to stick our group for old damage to rooms, luckily we had the rooms inspected for damage upon arrival and made note of and passed on all defects so that there was a record of them.
The waiting staff brought new meaning to the phrase "poor customer service". Not only did they have an apparant lack of deodorant, they were also the rudest, grumpiest and downright nastiest team of waiters I have had the displeasure to meet! It was a ral insight to how life might have been during the Communist era.
Our group were 'served' a pre-cooked 'meal' every evening, even though we were supposed to have had a buffet. There were several vegetarians in our group who were extremely poorly catered to. Mostly they had no food and were ignored until I complained to one of the staff, not once but several times for each child every evening.
The 'food' they 'served' was pretty bad. I'm not a finiky eater, my girth will bear to witness to this fact, even I thought it was bad. We had mystery meat two of the evenings, 6 tiny cubes of meat mind you! I suppose I shouldn't complain as it meant less gristle and fat. The other evening we were given chicken that would have been better used to make stock from. And forget about veg, I don't think they have it there. Breakfast was a buffet affair and was quite good with a decent selection. Coffee was not nice, so go for the tea or hot chocolate. The porridge was very nice though!
The rooms were a plus. Nice size with big, comfortable beds and clean. Decent amount of storage, writing desk, TV, phone and raised place for a case. There are also reading lights above the beds. The bathroom was basic but the showers had great pressure behind them which woke you up! The cold water from the taps was teeth achingly cold and tasted very nice, better than the bottled water in the restaurant.
Sadly, our room (303) was located opposite a set of rooms used by staff to drink coffee and smoke in. When I say smoke, I mean smoke. I stink, my case stinks, my clothes stink. When I was trying to get to sleep, all I could smell was the smell of stale ccigarette smoke rising off the carpet. I don't think I will ever feel clean again. Room 301 to 305 can better be avoided by anyone who has breathing difficulties.
The lobby was also a congregation point for smokers and was regularly smoke laden.
I mentioned a subway stop nearby. Descriptions of the hill are correct, it is very steep and not suitable for the less mobile. Taxis are cheap in Prague, so I'd make use of one of those.
Would I stay there again? Well, it was cheap and the location is quite good. I would make sure I was in the higher room numbers as they were not located opposite staff rooms. I would also not eat in the hotel in the evening. Saying that, I didn't eat a la carte, so it might be OK. I think I might look around for a nicer hotel in Prague.

just had five nights at hotel globus, i had read reviews and was a little concerned at what we might be in for. I can say that our stay was really nice at hotel globus and we have no complaints, the hotel was really clean the rooms was great.
It is out of the way but the metro station is only five minutes away and the tubes are really easy to understand and use.
we got a three day metro pass which you can use on all transport and found it ideal. The trams are great and we just got on and off at different stops and walked round and jumped back on which every one came along.
Prague is a great city with lots of beautiful sights and places to see.
There was six of us in our group and all of us had a lovely time.
One word of adviced make sure your footwear is comfortable as you need it on the streets of prague. The toilets all charge betweem 5 and 10 kroners so make sure you have change for them. we all would go back and use hotel globus it was fantastic value for money.
